EAGON Industry Co., Ltd., a leader in the premium flooring market with its EAGON Flooring brand, has donated eco-friendly materials free of charge to an art museum for the sake of children's health.
This support came about as the design philosophy of 'Hello Museum'—the first children's art museum to declare itself Plastic Free and to compose its space with eco-friendly building materials—aligned with the vision of EAGON Industry, which has long led a healthy residential culture. The donated products were carefully selected as eco-friendly flooring that is safe, environmentally friendly, and offers an excellent walking feel, so that children can sit on the museum floor to appreciate the artworks and experience art while running around barefoot.
EAGON Industry supported Exhibition Hall 1 and Exhibition Hall 2 of Hello Museum, covering 231.4㎡ (about 70 pyeong), with its natural flooring 'GENA Texture.' 'GENA Texture' is a natural flooring product that applies a single-ply veneer of natural solid wood onto WBP-grade eco-friendly plywood. As the first in Korea to treat natural veneer with a special brushing method, it emphasizes the three-dimensional depth and natural texture that can be felt in solid-wood flooring. It is offered in a total of 11 different wood species and patterns, and the Teak Rustic and Oak colors were applied at Hello Museum.
GENA Texture is a product well suited for installation in spaces designed for children to play freely. In particular, it is resistant to indentation and scratching compared to other natural flooring products, and its high thermal conductivity delivers excellent heating performance, so it is also called ondol flooring or ondol-type flooring.
An EAGON Industry official said, "We decided to support this project with the hope that the children who will lead the next generation can encounter art in a cleaner, safer environment and cultivate a warm worldview," adding, "Going forward, EAGON plans to continue developing eco-friendly materials that allow not only children but all family members to live with peace of mind."
Meanwhile, Hello Museum, a new type of art museum where children can experience art through play in a child-like way, opened in 2007. This past October, it reopened at the Seongdong Ansim Sangga in Seoul, oriented toward becoming an 'Eco Museum' that builds shared cultural capital within the local community. At the same time, it drew attention for taking on the 'Plastic Free' campaign—becoming the first children's art museum to compose its space primarily with eco-friendly building materials—and for pursuing an eco-oriented set of values.
