Strengthening the competitiveness of Korea's window and door industry and expanding its global network
Eagon Windows, a company specializing in premium system windows, has stepped up its efforts to strengthen industry-academia-research collaboration. By sharing the know-how and technical expertise it has accumulated over 30 years with industry, academia, and research institutions and by building an organic cooperative framework, the company is doing its utmost to serve as a rallying point for shared and mutual growth.
This year, Eagon Windows was selected as a ‘World Class Company’ on the strength of its vacuum glazing business—a new growth engine—and will receive approximately KRW 3 billion in government research and development funding over four years. The World Class program is a government-funded project promoted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy to help mid-sized companies with the will to grow and technological potential enter new markets and develop future strategic technologies, thereby accelerating corporate growth and strengthening global competitiveness. Buoyed by its selection as a World Class Company, Eagon Windows plans to develop high-value-added businesses utilizing cutting-edge technology in the vacuum glazing field, contributing to national economic growth by strengthening the competitiveness of Korea's window and door industry.
Recently, the company has also been working to strengthen global partnerships and lay the groundwork for developing overseas business for Eagon Windows’ vacuum glazing. From November 12, Eagon Windows took part in the ‘2023 Korea-ASEAN Standards Cooperation Joint Research Workshop,’ a seven-day event hosted by the Korea Conformity Laboratories, where it explored ways to strengthen standards cooperation with ASEAN—Korea's second-largest trading partner and the world's fifth-largest economic bloc. The workshop featured presentations on the technological status and standardization trends in three priority cooperation fields—smart manufacturing, smart cities, and green building—along with discussions on ways to produce tangible results. During the workshop session on expanding the Korea-ASEAN network on the 15th, Eagon Windows manager Eom Jae-yong shared the unrivaled technological expertise and achievements Eagon has built up in the vacuum glazing field, solidifying global partnerships and cementing Eagon Windows’ position on the world stage.
The company also continues its efforts to cultivate technical talent for the window and door industry. Eagon Windows has established an industry-academia cooperation foundation rooted in the local community and Inha University, located in Incheon where its headquarters is based. At the same time, it provides free education to future professionals in the architecture industry—including students majoring in architecture and interior design and new employees at major design firms—to deepen their understanding of building finishing materials such as windows, glass, and flooring, and to pass on hands-on experience and know-how from construction sites.
