inus, the total living brand of IS Dongseo (CEO Kwon Min-seok), a comprehensive construction and building-materials company, has unveiled its 2020 S/S tile trends.

For its 2020 S/S tile trends, inus proposes two diametrically opposed concepts—'Maximalism' and 'Detail Minimalism'—and is swiftly rolling out designs that faithfully reflect these trends.

Maximalism is an interior style that expresses individual sensibility by mixing diverse colors and patterns, bold decoration, and distinctive furniture and accessories. inus predicts that 'tile' will evolve from a material that simply fills in the background of a space into a design element that gives the space a focal point. Detail Minimalism, by contrast, emphasizes a more natural design in opposition to Maximalism. In Detail Minimalism, designs stand out that seek to bring the natural stone expressed on the tile to life in a bolder and more detailed way.

As consumers increasingly prefer interiors that showcase their personal individuality, 'Maximalism' is emerging as an effective interior approach. 'Marble Stone' design tiles, more marble-like than marble itself, realize diverse colors and a natural surface texture. 'Metal Effect' designs, which cast different light depending on the viewer's eye level or angle, can stylishly transform a space that might otherwise look dull. 'Point Color,' which brings out a space's individuality, and 'Digital Natural' designs, which seem to bring nature indoors just as it is, are also tiles worth noting for capturing the 2020 S/S trends.

Meanwhile, the previously popular minimalism shows an evolution to the next level in the form of 'Detail Minimalism,' which captures texture and pattern more realistically and boldly. Natural designs incorporating digital printing technology freely match color, pattern, and texture within the tile, making it possible to express a sense of depth in a space. Also worth noting are artwork-like designs that add a handcrafted aesthetic, applying distinctive colors and patterns to natural stone. Designs that combine wood with concrete, metal, and the like are expected to captivate consumers by simultaneously capturing classic and modern sensibilities.

Reflecting these tile trends, inus has introduced a total of 12 S/S tile collections, including 'Ink Stone,' which gives the impression of ink spreading across sandstone; 'Veined Stone,' inspired by South American natural stone; and 'Unique Terrazzo,' which incorporates a newtro sensibility.

An inus official said, "A growing number of consumers regard tile design as an important focal element of interior décor," adding, "As the No. 1 tile brand in Korea, we will strive to satisfy even the demands of trendy consumers with unique yet delicate, top-quality tiles." 1588-8613
