Support for small business owners in Yongin
Striving to be a good neighbor in the community
IKEA Giheung has signed a ‘Business Agreement for the Balanced Development of Small Business Owners and the Revitalization of the Local Economy in Yongin’ together with the City of Yongin and the Gyeonggi Credit Guarantee Foundation
. Attending the signing ceremony were Krys Lee, store manager of IKEA Giheung; Lee Sang-il, Mayor of Yongin; and Eom Chang-seok, Standing Executive Director of the Strategy Division at the Gyeonggi Credit Guarantee Foundation.
This agreement was carried out to help small business owners within the jurisdiction—who have been struggling amid a prolonged economic downturn—strengthen their business competitiveness through collateral-free, low-interest financial support.
Under the agreement, IKEA Giheung will make a special contribution of 200 million won toward the guarantee funds. The contribution will be used to provide guarantee support of up to 50 million won per business, within a ceiling of 2 billion won—ten times the contribution. Eligible recipients are small business owners who have been registered as businesses in Yongin for at least two months, with priority given to furniture retail businesses.
Krys Lee, store manager of IKEA Giheung, said, “As a good neighbor in the community, IKEA seeks to thrive together with small business owners and contribute to revitalizing the local economy,” adding, “We will continue to strive to have a positive influence on the community in order to create a better everyday life for the many people.”
Meanwhile, IKEA Korea continues to carry out a variety of activities to be a good neighbor in the community, including working with Habitat for Humanity Korea, an international nonprofit organization for housing welfare, to create community spaces for socially marginalized seniors, and partnering with Save the Children, an international child rights NGO, on a project to improve the residential environment of shelters for abused and at-risk children.
