Homes for Descendants of Independence Patriots
Jaehyun Haneulchang has sponsored the ‘2022 Virtual 815 Run,’ an August 15 Liberation Day commemorative event that supports the descendants of patriots who fought for Korea’s independence.
The ‘2022 815 Run’ is a campaign that reflects on the meaning of Liberation Day and expresses gratitude to independence patriots while conveying the positive message ‘It will be all right, Korea!’ It is a charity marathon in which, on Liberation Day, participants run a set distance for the descendants of independence patriots at a time and place of their choosing and donate their entry fees. In this year’s ‘2022 815 Run,’ held for the third time, participant Sean completed 81.5 km in 7 hours, 27 minutes, and 24 seconds despite the heat, cutting 22 minutes off last year’s record.

In addition to the donations from the 71 sponsoring companies and the entry fees of 3,500 individual participants, individual donations (approximately 1 billion won) will be donated in full to Habitat for Humanity Korea to help provide comfortable and safe homes for the descendants of independence patriots. Sean, too, upon successfully completing the run, added to the donation the 8.15 million won he had previously pledged along with 8.15 million won from the proceeds of the MF! and MCM collaboration pop-up store.
Meanwhile, with the funds raised through the 2020–2021 815 Runs, homes were dedicated starting with House No. 1 in Hwasun, Jeonnam, in August 2022, followed by House No. 2 in Dongducheon, Gyeonggi; House No. 3 in Cheongyang, Chungnam; House No. 4 in Changwon, Gyeongnam; House No. 5 in Ulsan; and House No. 6 in Jecheon, Chungbuk. House No. 7 in Cheongsong, Gyeongbuk, and House No. 8 in Gurye, Jeonnam, are scheduled to be dedicated to households of independence patriots’ descendants during August and September.
