Korea's largest design competition
First-place prize of 30 million won
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (hereinafter the Ministry, Minister Moon Sung-wook) announced that the 'Korea Design Exhibition (57th),' the nation's largest design competition, hosted by the Ministry and co-organized by the Korea Institute of Design Promotion (hereinafter the Institute, President Yoon Sang-heum) and the Korea Federation of Design Associations, will accept entries until June 30.
Boasting the highest authority in the country, this competition has been held since 1966 to discover outstanding design talent and promote creative design development, and to date approximately 60,000 works have been submitted.
With a total prize pool of 85 million won, the Grand Prize winners in the general and university (graduate) student categories—the highest honor—will receive the Presidential Award and a prize of 30 million won, while the Grand Prize winner in the youth (elementary, middle, and high school) category will receive the Prime Minister's Award and a prize of 1 million won.
Selected winners can receive a variety of benefits, including △a certificate, prize money, and inclusion in a collection of works △appointment as an invited or recommended designer △online and offline exhibition of winning works △overseas company tours and internship support △commercialization-linked support such as preferential points for the Pre-Startup Package Program △media and social media promotion.
Any design that has not been released to the market and has not been produced for sale as of the entry deadline is eligible for submission, and entries are judged through a total of three rounds (Round 1: online screening, Round 2: physical (work) screening, Round 3: award-grade screening).
To ensure the credibility of the selection, the public verification of award candidates and the public participation screening system will continue to be operated, and starting this year, a PT (presentation) evaluation will be introduced during the third round of award-grade screening for the 39 government award candidates in the general and university student categories, in order to conduct a detailed review through to commercialization and a highly reliable screening.
The awards ceremony is scheduled to be held at 'Design Korea 2022,' the nation's largest design industry expo.
