Nine colors selected under this year's theme keyword, 'Only One Earth'
Chokwang Paint has announced the '2021 Chokwang Paint Color Mood,' a set of nine trend colors themed around the environment.
Recent climate change—such as rising temperatures and rising sea temperatures—and the resulting climate crisis are accelerating the spread and mutation of pathogens, while deforestation caused by indiscriminate development destroys the habitats of wild animals, further increasing the risk of exposure to zoonotic diseases. This past summer, Japan was hit by torrential rains dropping 500 mm of water in a single day, while in Australia, severe drought fueled wildfires that continued for months, killing or displacing three billion animals. On one side of the planet there are floods, while on the opposite side heat waves and drought have triggered a series of massive fires. In 2021, these serious environmental problems can no longer be put off, and now is the time for us to take action to reverse the damage to the environment.
In response, Chokwang Paint has chosen 'Only One Earth' as this year's theme keyword—a year that ushers in a pandemic era brought on by COVID-19—and has proposed nine colors. 'Only One Earth' means that we have but a single Earth; it is a theme selected to remind us of the ever-worsening severity of environmental pollution and to promote sustainable development in harmony with the planet. Along with the main theme, Chokwang Paint presented three sub-themes—'Extinction,' 'Earth Pollution,' and 'Sustainable Development'—and selected nine colors to express each of them.
The nine colors of the '2021 Chokwang Paint Color Mood' are: △Honey Bee Yellow, △Iiwi Red, and △Bettles Green, colors inspired by creatures facing extinction; △Sand Brown, △Ocean Blue, and △Smoke Pink, influenced by a polluted Earth; and △Plastic Gray, △Fungi Blue, and △Revival Black, inspired by sustainable development in dealing with waste.
Along with the nine colors, Chokwang Paint has proposed additional complementary colors that can be combined with them, so that the Chokwang Paint Color Mood can be easily applied across a wide range of industries, including interior design, home appliances, and automobiles. In an era of pandemic, when health and the environment are drawing more attention than ever, all eyes are on the kind of response that the environmentally themed Chokwang Paint Color Mood will elicit.
