Four colors selected: Vivid Coral, Space Purple, Ethics Green and Rest Beige

Chokwang Paint has announced ‘2022 Color Mood – Mood Booster,’ its trend colors themed around the MZ generation.

‘Mood Booster’ means to lift one’s spirits, a theme chosen out of a desire to turn around the mood that has been dampened by COVID-19. For 2022, Chokwang Paint presented four colors: ▲VIVID CORAL ▲SPACE PURPLE ▲ETHICS GREEN ▲REST BEIGE. These four key colors were selected by analyzing the characteristics and social issues surrounding the trend-leading, confident and highly individualistic MZ generation (a term that collectively refers to Millennials (ages 25–39) and Generation Z (ages 15–24)) and how they seek to turn around the mood that has been dampened by COVID-19.

The first color, ‘Vivid Coral,’ is a high-chroma, vivid red with an orange hue—a lively, vibrant color brimming with energy. Capturing the sensibility of the MZ generation, who value their own happiness over the standards of others, it represents self-realization and self-satisfaction. The second, ‘Space Purple,’ is a color inspired by the metaverse, a three-dimensional virtual world. With its vivid tone and high chroma, it offers mysterious and creative inspiration, and this color, full of new possibilities, unites the digital world with real space. The third color, ‘Ethics Green,’ draws inspiration from the environmentally conscious nature of the MZ generation and signifies ethical value-driven consumption that expresses one’s convictions. Resembling nature, ‘Ethics Green’ represents vitality and sustainable development. The final color, ‘Rest Beige,’ signifies inner stability and healing. The ongoing spread of COVID-19 has highlighted the importance of health management for a happy life. Health management encompasses not only physical health but also mental health, and ‘Rest Beige,’ a soft, low-chroma color that is comfortable and stable, brings a sense of stability and ease to modern people.

In addition to the four key colors, Chokwang Paint has also proposed matching supplementary colors so that Chokwang Paint’s color mood can be easily applied across various industries, including interiors, home appliances and automobiles.
