Daehyun Tech Co., Ltd. creates a new bathroom culture with its odor-blocking trap and drain, ‘Home Drain’
Daehyun Tech Co., Ltd. (CEO Park Jang-ho), a hardware and metal-processing manufacturer, has developed and launched ‘Home Drain (floor drain),’ a new-concept odor-blocking trap and drain that blocks not only drain odors but also pests, and it is winning a favorable response from consumers.
Drain odors occur throughout all four seasons and become even worse in the hot summer months; no matter how much you clean and ventilate, it is difficult to completely eliminate the drain odors coming from the kitchen and bathroom. In particular, drain odors can worsen the indoor environment and even harm your health, so very careful attention is required.
Daehyun Tech’s odor-blocking trap ‘HOME Drain’ is designed with a fluid-dynamics structure, giving it a simple mechanism that automatically opens and closes according to the volume of water as it drains. The product operates on the principle of force by which gravity opens the flap and then returns it to its original position. Whereas conventional traps are installed as water-seal types in which water pools, Daehyun Tech’s product is a dry-type, non-water-seal trap: the trap opens only when water is used, and after use it closes automatically according to the amount of water used.
Daehyun Tech’s Home Drain has no restrictions on installation space and is made of a special material that is impact-resistant, making it usable semi-permanently. Anyone can easily clean and maintain it, and it is also simple to replace, so it is expected to draw a strong response from many consumers. The product was selected as a ‘Global Premium Product of Everyday Life,’ an initiative hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and organized by the Korea Institute of Design Promotion, and it holds a patent certificate and a design registration certificate in the drainage trap category from the Korean Intellectual Property Office. In 2019 it was selected as a Good Design (GD) product and received the Minister of SMEs and Startups Award. Recently, under the ‘2020 Technology Development Product Pilot Purchase Support Plan’ implemented by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, Daehyun Tech’s odor-blocking trap and drain were selected as pilot purchase products following the purchase evaluation and deliberation.
From product design and styling through manufacturing, Daehyun Tech Co., Ltd. specializes in producing building materials, bathroom fixtures, floor drainage, and drain covers (floor drains made from floor tile). It produces and supplies dry-type trap products and drain products that provide the drainage performance essential to drains at construction sites, construction companies, and general consumers’ bathrooms while blocking odors and pests.
Having worked in the construction industry for more than 20 years and traversed many construction sites, CEO Park Jang-ho identified the problems of odor and drainage that arise in bathrooms and, drawing on the know-how he had accumulated, developed the odor-blocking trap and drain after long research.
