KCC Glass, ‘Creating Warm Spaces’ Initiative
Helping vulnerable groups by providing comfortable, safe environments
KCC Glass has decided to lend its support by donating eco-friendly flooring to the ‘Creating Warm Spaces’ initiative, a project promoted by the Social Welfare Foundation of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism to improve the environment of community child centers. Through this effort, the company plans to take the lead in creating comfortable and safe childcare spaces that can serve as a foundation for recharging and growth.
On May 20, KCC Glass held a ‘Creating Warm Spaces Business Agreement Ceremony’ at the Jogye Order Social Welfare Foundation, located in Jongno-gu, Seoul. The ceremony was attended by key figures from the participating organizations, including Kim Myung-ju, General Affairs Team Leader at KCC Glass, and Venerable Bo-in, Executive Director of the Social Welfare Foundation of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism.
Through this business agreement, KCC Glass aims to take the lead in creating comfortable and safe childcare spaces that can serve as a foundation for recharging and growth. In particular, by donating its eco-friendly flooring—which offers excellent antibacterial and deodorizing effects—the company plans to build clean, stable spaces that support children’s psychological and emotional well-being and enhance their learning abilities.
Community child centers are facilities that provide social care services by offering children in the community safe, nature-friendly spaces for care and play, and their number has been increasing every year. However, the reality is that while facilities have grown in quantity, there is still considerable room for improvement in the qualitative level of child-centered spaces. Accordingly, KCC Glass decided to join the community child center environment improvement project promoted by the Jogye Order Social Welfare Foundation, so that guardians can entrust their children with peace of mind and a healthy educational environment can be provided.
In addition, KCC Glass has signed a business agreement with the incorporated association Hope’s Love House to carry out a free home repair sponsorship project. The initiative implements residential environment improvement projects for marginalized neighbors living in poor conditions—including elderly people living alone, families of people with disabilities, and other low-income households—and KCC Glass decided to join this cause by providing eco-friendly flooring free of charge.
Meanwhile, KCC Glass’s PVC flooring ‘Soop’ (Forest) series is a product that has earned major domestic eco-friendly certification marks, including the Environmental Label Certification and the highest grade of the HB Mark. Not only is hinoki (Japanese cypress) oil added to its surface coating layer, but KCC Glass’s own proprietary hazardous-substance volatilization process is also applied during the manufacturing process, eliminating concerns about the release of hazardous substances and highlighting the product’s safety and eco-friendliness for users.
A KCC Glass official said, “Through this flooring donation, we hope to be even a small help and source of strength to the spaces where children live,” adding, “Enhancing the development and value of the local community and coexisting together is a core task of the social responsibility that KCC Glass pursues.” The official also stated, “Going forward, we will continue to strive to create spaces where people of all ages and genders can stay with peace of mind, through high-performance materials.”
