Gwangmyeong City Council on Social Welfare
IKEA Gwangmyeong announced that it has donated home furnishing products for local children.
Each year, IKEA Gwangmyeong carries out a range of activities that contribute to the local community, drawing on IKEA's expertise in home furnishing. This donation was made as part of the store's participation in the Gwangmyeong City Council on Social Welfare's Hope-Sharing Campaign, the '2023 With-Hope Donation Relay,' and was arranged to help more children enjoy a warm holiday season as Christmas and the year-end approach.
IKEA Gwangmyeong delivered IKEA home furnishing products that support daily life and learning—such as bedding and lighting—so that children in welfare blind spots can spend a cozy and comfortable winter. The donated products will be delivered to children living in vulnerable conditions within the Gwangmyeong area through the Gwangmyeong Hope-Sharing Campaign Headquarters.
Martin Albrecht, store manager of IKEA Gwangmyeong, said, "I hope that the precious children of the Gwangmyeong area can grow up warm and happy together with IKEA's home furnishing," adding, "We will continue to spread a positive influence as a good neighbor in the local community and create a better everyday life for the many people."
Meanwhile, this past August, IKEA Gwangmyeong created a comfortable space for elderly people with dementia and stroke conditions at the Soha Senior Day Care Center in Gwangmyeong. In addition, IKEA Korea has been carrying out a variety of activities to become a good neighbor in the local community, including a project to create community spaces for seniors together with the housing welfare nonprofit Habitat for Humanity Korea, and a project to improve the residential environment of shelters for abused and at-risk children together with the international child rights NGO Save the Children.
