Apply Heat-Reflective Paint Coating

On July 17, KCC and the Seo-gu District Office of Gwangju Metropolitan City (hereinafter Gwangju) signed a business agreement for the ‘Good Cool Roof,’ a public-private partnership social contribution project that lowers the temperature of welfare institutions while raising the warmth of goodwill.

The Good Cool Roof is a meaningful public-private social contribution project that coats roofs with heat-reflective paint to lower the indoor temperature of local welfare facilities during the sweltering summer, thereby reducing the energy needed for cooling.

Heat-reflective paint is a functional paint that reflects the sun's infrared rays to reduce the heat energy the roof directly absorbs, thereby cutting the amount of heat transferred into the building. For this Good Cool Roof project, KCC supplied ‘Spotan Topcoat (Energy),’ a paint that has obtained a heat-reflective performance certification from the U.S. CRRC (Cool Roof Rating Council).

Ham Seong-su, Executive Director of KCC, said, “By saving energy through this Good Cool Roof project, welfare facilities will not only be able to use their operating budgets more efficiently, but the project will also have a positive environmental effect by reducing greenhouse gas emissions,” adding, “KCC will continue to consider and implement measures that benefit the local community.”

Meanwhile, ‘Spotan Topcoat (Energy),’ the KCC heat-reflective paint used in this social contribution project, can be applied to various surfaces such as concrete and steel, so it can be used across a wide range of applications—from residential to commercial—including ordinary houses as well as general buildings such as office buildings, apartments, commercial complexes, and schools, along with storage tanks, outdoor facilities, and factory roofs. With excellent weather resistance and good workability, it is a product that even ordinary people can apply using brushes, rollers, and the like.
