Home furnishing retail company IKEA Korea has opened ‘IKEA Lab,’ a pop-up space in Seongsu-dong, Seongdong-gu, Seoul, where visitors can experience sustainability firsthand.
Having designated fiscal year 2021 as its ‘Year of Sustainability,’ the initiative is part of IKEA Korea's long-term sustainability strategy, which aims to inspire more people to take part in the movement toward sustainable living at home, a healthy planet, and an inclusive society.
‘IKEA Lab’ (address: 48, Achasan-ro 17-gil, Seongdong-gu, Seoul) is designed as an experiential space where anyone can easily visit—particularly in a highly accessible downtown location—to gain information and inspiration on sustainable living, as well as feel the values and philosophy of sustainability that IKEA pursues with all five senses.
Presented as a standalone two-story building spanning 914㎡, ‘IKEA Lab’ will operate for six months from its opening day. Visitors can experience IKEA home furnishing products that have a more positive impact on the global environment through the use of sustainable materials, and can also enjoy a variety of attractions such as interior design services offered exclusively at ‘IKEA Lab’ and various workshops. In addition, ‘IKEA Food Lab,’ where visitors can sample a wide range of healthy food that is both tasty and nutritious, is scheduled to operate.
