Baekjo Sink Surpasses 120,000 Units in Cumulative Sales Over 5 Years
Sales Steadily Climb, Driven by the Minimalism Trend
Baekjo Sink, a specialized manufacturer of stainless steel sink bowls, announced that cumulative sales of its handmade square sink bowls over the past five years have surpassed 120,000 units.
Beginning in 2010 with consumers drawn to their clean, modern design, square sink bowls—once used mainly in professional kitchens by expert chefs in commercial spaces such as hotels and restaurants—have now begun making their way into ordinary households, becoming increasingly mainstream.
With its quick reading of trends and forecasting of demand, Baekjo Sink completed the configuration of its production equipment line in 2005 and became the first company in Korea to manufacture and sell square sink bowls. Over the past five years (2016 to July 2020), the average annual sales growth rate of its handmade square sink bowls has been rising rapidly, at around 30%. Through July 2020, the sales growth rate of square sink bowls climbed 67% compared to the same period the previous year, marking the highest growth on record.
The secret behind this success lies in continuous product development and design improvement. In the early days of its launch, the interior corners were entirely right angles at 90 degrees, but through ongoing improvements based on listening to consumer feedback, the company has upgraded quality while keeping prices reasonable—maintaining a refined design while introducing the finely detailed 5Round corners that are the most convenient and optimized for cleaning and use, along with the double-molded 3Slope bottom structure (with graded inclines) for smooth water drainage—and consumer orders have continued to follow.
The most widely loved products are the SQS(R)500, 780, and 900 series. Incorporating improved design and technology developed by listening to consumer reviews, they feature 5R rounded interior corners that enhance user convenience. In particular, the LD9511 is a premium product with a stepped (layered) structure that allows various accessories to be mounted and used.
Notably, the newly launched product this year, 'CalmForte 830,' is Korea's top premium product, combining a refined square design that carries the meaning of being 'Calm yet strong (Forte)' with solutions to the problems of scratches, water stains, and noise. It comes standard with a Quiet function that reduces dishwashing noise, and applies Baekjo Sink's own special embossed material that resists scratches. On top of this, the Goni Clear coating is added to prevent contamination from both detergents and food, allowing the sink bowl to stay clean throughout all four seasons—offering not only design but also comprehensive functionality. Buoyed by the enthusiastic response to the new product, the company has expanded the lineup to include the CalmForte 550 and 900. In addition, the 'Reborn 85,' a dedicated square sink bowl developed for the reform service to meet the needs of customers who wish to switch from their existing product to a square sink bowl, is also loved by consumers.
