Habitat's ultra-short-term construction project
100 volunteers take part
COMMAX announced that it participated as a sponsor in the ‘2024 Korea Blitz Build (KBB),’ organized by Habitat for Humanity Korea, an international non-profit organization dedicated to housing welfare.
The Korea Blitz Build (KBB) is an ultra-short-term construction project in which building work is carried out intensively at a single location over a brief period. It gained recognition when former U.S. President Jimmy Carter visited Korea in 2001 and took part in construction volunteer work alongside 10,000 volunteers from around the world.
Resumed after five years due to the COVID-19 pandemic since 2019, the ‘2024 Korea Blitz Build’ was held from August 1 to 3 in Seokgyo-ri, Cheonan, South Chungcheong Province, with approximately 100 volunteers taking part in the construction work each day.
Marking its 15th edition this year, the event was held at the site of Habitat for Humanity Korea’s ‘2024 Building Homes of Hope’ project, with the goal of constructing a total of 16 two-story detached houses featuring a duplex layout. The homes will be provided to 16 homeless newlywed couples, who are scheduled to move in this December.
COMMAX shared its impressions, saying, “We are very pleased to be part of the 2024 Korea Blitz Build organized by Habitat. Despite the sweltering weather, we hope everyone felt the reward of building hope through our own sweat.”
Meanwhile, the sponsors participating in the ‘2024 Building Homes of Hope’ project include, along with COMMAX, Korean Reinsurance, the City of Cheonan, Korean Air, Seum Co., Ltd., Asia Cement and Halla Cement, Stanley Black & Decker, Knauf Gypsum Board Co., Ltd., KLA, Cargill, DuPont, K2 Safety, iMarketKorea Inc., Mirae Asset Park Hyeon Joo Foundation, Swarok Asia Co., Ltd., Mentology, and Ebiga Jjamppong.
