Selected technologies to be adopted on site; win-win cooperation through long-term utilization
Open to domestic SMEs and startups; deadline July 31
Kolon Global is holding a Smart Construction Technology Contest to secure future growth drivers for the construction industry and strengthen win-win cooperation with outstanding engineering firms.
The contest covers all smart construction technologies that can be immediately applied to construction sites, including: △smart safety and control technologies such as integrated monitoring and location tracking; △construction, process, quality, and cost improvement technologies utilizing MC (Machine Control), MG (Machine Guidance), artificial intelligence (AI), big data, and platforms; and △technologies for expanding residential services using the Internet of Things (IoT).
Applications are open to domestic SMEs and startups that possess smart construction technologies, and contest submissions will be accepted until July 31. Kolon Global plans to conduct document and presentation reviews of the submitted technologies and select the winning entries in October this year.
To apply, download the application form from the ‘Kolon Global Smart Construction Technology Contest’ page on the TheContest website, then upload the completed application and supporting documents to that website.
Technologies selected through the contest will be given priority for adoption at Kolon Global’s sites. In addition, technologies that prove their excellence will be offered opportunities such as commercialization and joint development, and for promising companies, the company plans to pursue review, investment, and partnerships through the group’s venture capital. The top three companies among the winners will be awarded a total of 10 million won in prize money.
Kolon Global has been using drones for on-site control since 2016. In September 2021, it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with six companies to establish a smart construction safety technology alliance, and is pursuing expanded application of partner companies’ technologies through on-site pilot operations (△Gimhae Yulha apartment complex △Daejeon Seonhwa Phase 2 mixed-use residential complex △Dongbuk Line urban railway (Section 4), etc.) and improvements.
Recently, the company has been building and advancing an ESH platform for safety management, and is reviewing the formation of a company-wide organization for the systematic discovery and adoption of smart construction technologies. Furthermore, over the mid-to-long term, it aims to internalize smart construction technologies by jointly building a digital twin platform that combines drones and BIM with startups.
A Kolon Global official said, “Through this contest, we aim to actively discover innovative smart technologies and solutions and lay a technological foundation to lead the future construction industry,” adding, “Over the long term, we plan to progressively discover outstanding smart construction technologies that can be applied to all processes, thereby enhancing Kolon Global’s technological competitiveness and promoting shared growth across the industry.”
Meanwhile, Kolon Global’s construction division possesses top-tier talent and technological capabilities across various fields—including architecture, civil engineering, housing, renewable energy, environment, plants, and SOC—working to improve customers’ lifestyles. By expanding into areas such as housing development projects and modular housing, it is strengthening future growth drivers and achieving remarkable growth in eco-friendly sectors such as wind power, hydrogen energy, and water treatment, leading a new construction paradigm.
