Multi Action Air Purifier 2
Central Hole Design Delivers Cleaning Efficiency
Coway (CEO Jang-won Seo) has proven its global design capabilities by winning a Silver award at the 2023 IDEA (International Design Excellence Awards).
The IDEA Design Awards is a globally prestigious design competition organized by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA). Along with Germany's iF and Red Dot and Japan's Good Design Award, it is regarded as one of the world's four major design awards. This year Coway received a total of three honors: the ‘Multi Action Air Purifier 2 (AP-1523D)’ won Silver, the ‘Icon Max Free (CHP-4600N)’ water purifier for the Japanese market won Bronze, and the ‘Skin Plus Water Softener (BB16/17-A)’ was selected as a Finalist.
The Silver-winning ‘Multi Action Air Purifier 2’ earned high marks for adopting a circular design featuring a round opening in the center, which significantly increases air flow. Through the central hole, it delivers clean air about 2.5 times farther than existing products, enhancing cleaning performance and efficiency. It detects indoor air conditions in real time and displays them in four colors, allowing users to intuitively check the air quality in their home.
The ‘Icon Max Free’ water purifier, currently sold in Japan, won Bronze for eliminating installation-space constraints—its detachable water supply tank makes it easy to use even without a nearby water pipe. The water storage tank can be easily removed and washed, and an automatic UV sterilization function enhances hygiene. Its slim 26-cm width and minimalist, largely straight-line design, which blends harmoniously with a variety of interior spaces, also drew praise.
