PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification), established in 1999 based on international standards, is the world's largest forest certification scheme. Focusing on promoting the sustainable management and protection of forest resources and preserving the health and vitality of forest ecosystems, its purpose is to guarantee the origin of forest resources through a forest certification system and thereby provide consumers with trustworthy, eco-friendly products. A product bearing the PEFC certification mark means that trees are not simply selected and processed from just anywhere, but that only the permitted quantity of timber from internationally managed forests is used.
