Noroo Paint–GS E&C, an Anti-Carbonation Paint for Concrete
Enhanced Durability, Improved Strength, and Proven Durability Performance
Noroo Paint has jointly developed 'Cupid Protection,' a high-performance water-based paint, together with GS E&C.
Cupid Protection delivers the effect of enhancing a building's durability and improving its strength by preventing the carbonation of concrete that occurs due to carbon dioxide penetration. It is also characterized by its excellent resistance to inhibiting chloride ion penetration and its high water impermeability.
During the product development stage, the two companies completed quality verification of durability through various tests and evaluations. Through KTR (Korea Testing & Research Institute), a testing organization that verifies corporate safety and standard compliance, they secured test certifications including an accelerated weathering resistance evaluation report as well as KS M 6010 Type 1 Grade 1 and KS F 4936.
Cupid Protection proved its durability performance by meeting the 1,000-hour condition in an accelerated weathering test, which evaluates a product's functionality using a testing device that artificially creates accelerated natural conditions. A joint patent application for the product is currently underway, and commercialization is imminent.
This collaboration began in response to demand in the domestic construction market, where awareness of safety has grown. To develop a product tailored to the environmental characteristics of Korea, which is subject to diverse influences from topography and climate, Noroo Paint—equipped with professional paint R&D capabilities—and GS E&C—which possesses on-site construction capabilities and experience—embarked on joint research last year and succeeded in the development.
Meanwhile, Noroo Paint is expanding its products and services in the construction market, having launched Cupid Master, a paint that prevents building deterioration, last year, and providing apartment repainting services centered on its 'Color Design Center.'
A Noroo Paint official said, "Joint development with a construction company allows us to identify the market's needs, which greatly helps us develop products suited to on-site environments and improve our technological capabilities," adding, "We will continue to do our best in the R&D of high-performance paints and strive to contribute to the development of the domestic construction industry."
