Royal Copenhagen — A World First

Opens at Lotte Department Store Main Branch

Royal Copenhagen, the 247-year-old Danish royal porcelain brand, has opened the world's first boutique dedicated to ‘Flora Danica,’ a treasure of the Danish royal court and widely regarded as the pinnacle of the ceramic arts, on the 8th floor of the Lotte Department Store main branch.

Flora Danica traces its history back to 1790, when Danish King Christian VII first commissioned Royal Copenhagen to create it as a gift for Empress Catherine II of Russia, and it has continued ever since.

Named after <Flora Danica>, the Danish botanical encyclopedia, Flora Danica is a supreme masterpiece that faithfully renders detailed illustrations of the more than 3,000 species of flowers and ferns catalogued in the encyclopedia onto curved porcelain. With its intricate forms, vivid colors, and lavish gilding, it is the brand's highest-tier line, showcasing Royal Copenhagen's craftsmanship, and it is still officially used by the Danish royal family today. Moreover, imbued with centuries of history and artistic value, it is highly acclaimed by distinguished figures and porcelain connoisseurs around the world.

By opening the world's first exclusive Flora Danica boutique at the Lotte Department Store main branch, Royal Copenhagen has brought together in one place some 120 Danish treasures that have long been difficult to encounter. In the boutique, visitors can find the largest selection of Flora Danica pieces in Korea, including new products as well as rare masterpieces that are works of art in their own right, such as ice pails, tureens, and fruit baskets.

This exclusive Flora Danica boutique offers a distinctive personal shopping experience, including consultations by advance reservation, and, with an inspiring layout that recreates a special display cabinet and the royal table just as they are, it presents the timeless beauty unique to Flora Danica.

An official from Royal Copenhagen Korea said, “We are delighted to be able to present in Korea the world's first exclusive boutique that gathers ‘Flora Danica,’ regarded as a treasure of Denmark, in one place,” adding, “We hope visitors will experience firsthand the nobility and royal dignity that Flora Danica conveys in this space, which is like a gallery of masterpieces.”
