LG Hausys draws attention with materials that deliver a premium interior look while enhancing hygiene
Outstanding hygiene, stain resistance and durability
LG Hausys is accelerating its push into the interior market for medical facilities such as hospitals and nursing homes at home and abroad, with highly stain-resistant and hygienic materials including engineered stone and flooring.
LG Z:IN engineered stone ‘HI-MACS’ is drawing attention as a premium interior material for medical facilities, offering not only a luxurious interior comparable to natural stone thanks to its excellent workability, but also outstanding hygiene and durability. Beyond the information desk in a hospital lobby, it can be applied to almost all spaces in a hospital, including examination rooms, operating rooms, laboratories, patient wards and restrooms.
In particular, unlike natural marble, ‘HI-MACS’ has no pores, making it hygienic by preventing the penetration of bacteria, viruses and chemicals. It recently underwent ISO 846 testing (a mold and microbial resistance test for plastics and polymer-based materials) through the Korea Conformity Laboratories (KCL); no growth of mold or microorganisms was observed, achieving a result that meets the standard of Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Notice No. 2016-1084.
It received hygiene certification from NSF, a certification body verified by the WHO (World Health Organization), as a ‘material safe for direct contact with food,’ and was certified by the U.S. testing agency MICROBAC as a hygienic product with a virus absorption rate low enough that, even when exposed to HIV—a high-risk infectious virus—it can be perfectly cleaned with ordinary cleaning agents.
Alongside this, ‘Medistep Origin’ is a flooring material for medical facilities that LG Hausys introduced in 2015 as the first among domestic companies. With virtually no seams, it easily prevents contaminants, and it has the advantage of suffering little damage—such as deterioration of the printed pattern or tearing—even after prolonged foot traffic. Its price competitiveness is also excellent, and it is expanding its presence in the medical facility interior market at home and abroad.
An LG Hausys official said, “As the medical market continues to grow, demand for medical facility interior products that offer not only outstanding hygiene and durability but also premium design continues to rise,” adding, “We will do our best to establish a presence not only in the domestic market but also in advanced medical countries overseas, backed by our excellent quality and price competitiveness.” 080-005-4000
