Volunteer activity in the form of a rice donation
Part of the company's social contribution efforts
Hankuk Glass announced that on the 14th it visited 'Sarang-ui Bapsang Nanumteo' (Table of Love Sharing Place), a free meal center in downtown Gunsan where its Gunsan plant is located, to carry out free meal volunteer work for local senior citizens who have been struggling amid the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
Sarang-ui Bapsang Nanumteo is the only free meal center in the West Gunsan area and has provided free lunches to senior citizens since 2013. Unlike most free meal centers that suspended operations due to the spread of COVID-19, this year it has been distributing packed lunches rather than serving meals on-site.
As one of its social contribution activities under ESG management, Hankuk Glass has regularly visited the free meal center each year to volunteer with meal service, but this year it took part in the volunteer effort in the form of a rice donation in compliance with COVID-19 quarantine guidelines. The rice will be provided to struggling neighbors who go without meals.
Pastor Kim Do-kyung of the Yesa Volunteer Corps, which runs the free meal center, said, "Support from companies and organizations that used to take part in sponsorship and volunteer work has decreased significantly of late, so we are very glad that Hankuk Glass has joined in." Na Yong-shin, general manager of Hankuk Glass's Production Technology Support Team, said, "Going forward, we plan to continue to take an interest in marginalized neighbors and explore a variety of social contribution activities through which we can share warmth."
Meanwhile, Hankuk Glass is continuing its social contribution activities, including delivering congratulatory gifts to new students at Haeseong Elementary School this past March to mark the new semester. Hankuk Glass presented stationery gift sets worth about 1 million won to the children beginning their new school life.
