Establishes environmental health and safety management policy
Hankuk Glass, a leader in Korea's domestic glass industry, announced that it has renewed its certification for ‘ISO 45001,’ the international standard occupational health and safety management system.
ISO 45001 is an international standard established by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). It is a system that pre-emptively prevents and manages potential on-site hazards and industrial accidents, and evaluates whether an organization's management framework meets global standards. It was officially converted into the ISO 45001 standard in 2018 by applying ISO's HLS (High Level Structure) to the existing OHSAS 18001.
Hankuk Glass first obtained OHSAS 18001 in 2008 for the glass product manufacturing and production division of its Gunsan plant and maintained it before converting to ISO 45001 certification in 2018. In addition, during the follow-up audit in February 2022, it expanded the scope to include the window and door installation division and obtained certification, and in December 2022 it underwent a renewal audit for the glass manufacturing and window and door installation divisions.
Hankuk Glass has established an environmental health and safety management policy and created a dedicated safety management organization in an effort to strengthen its occupational health and safety management framework. It also conducts company-wide safety-related training and systematically operates the system by building an opinion-gathering system and preparing an occupational health and safety manual.
A Hankuk Glass official said, “We plan to expand safety training and activities to raise safety awareness,” adding, “We will take the lead in ESG management by identifying and improving the level of occupational health and safety management at our worksites.”
In addition to ISO 45001, the Hankuk Glass Gunsan plant holds certifications for the ISO 9001 quality management system and the ISO 14001 environmental management system.
