Hanssem Co., Ltd. (CEO Kang Seung-soo), a total home interior specialist company, announced that its new bathroom product 'Euro5 Newtro Modern' won the top prize, 'Best of Best,' at the 2019 PIN UP DESIGN AWARDS.
The 'PIN UP DESIGN AWARDS' is a ceremony hosted by the Korea Association of Industrial Designers (KAID), and is regarded as one of Korea's three major design awards, alongside 'Good Design' and the 'Korea Design Awards.'
'Euro5 Newtro Modern' is a Newtro-style bathroom that combines the New and the Retro, reinterpreting the characteristics of retro-style interiors in a modern way. In particular, colors that are quintessentially retro, such as brick and navy, were boldly applied to the wall panels and storage cabinets, and geometric shape patterns were layered on as accent points. The washbasin, mirror, and faucet were also designed to convey a sense of unity.
Also drawing attention is the application of wide panels measuring 2.4m in width and 1.2m in height—more than twice the size of the wall panels in existing Hanssem bathrooms. Unlike conventional bathrooms in which panels were installed vertically, these can be installed horizontally, differentiating the design. With fewer seams between panels, the aesthetic appeal is further enhanced, and cleaning has also become easier compared to existing products.
Panels are installed on both the upper and lower sections, and a molding is installed between them to which bathroom accessories can be fastened. Cup holders, soap dishes, shelves, and the like can be easily attached or detached as needed, and their positions can be freely changed, realizing a bathroom that reflects the consumer's individuality.
A Hanssem official said, "Ever since Hanssem introduced bathrooms utilizing the new material 'Hew Panel,' it has created a stir in the bathroom market," adding, "We will not be complacent with this award, but plan to continue presenting products with even more improved designs."
Meanwhile, in 2012 Hanssem launched a dry-construction bathroom utilizing 'Hew Panel.' Installation can be completed in just a single day, preventing friction with neighbors caused by noise and dust, and because no tiles are used, it can be used hygienically without worrying about mold or water stains between grout lines. The flooring is given a special coating and embossing treatment to prevent bathroom safety accidents.
