Hanssem has further enhanced the safety and eco-friendliness of its entire kitchen furniture and storage product lineup. Hanssem uses eco-friendly materials not only for raw materials, but also for all auxiliary materials used in the processing stage. The various harmful substances emitted by furniture are invisible, but they can trigger conditions such as rhinitis, asthma, and atopic dermatitis, so they must be thoroughly blocked.

For healthy furniture, Hanssem uses only E0-grade raw materials that exceed legal standards. The domestic legal standard is E1, but Hanssem uses only E0-grade materials, whose formaldehyde (HCHO) emission level is about one-third of that. Even when eco-friendly raw materials are used, they are of no use if harmful substances are released from adhesives or finishing materials. When making furniture, the use of adhesives, paints, and plating is unavoidable for purposes such as preservation, sterilization, and strengthening adhesion. In this process, various harmful substances are generated, lowering the eco-friendliness of the finished furniture.

Hanssem designates and uses eco-friendly adhesives, paints, and finishing materials—including its in-house development of an ocher nano surface material that offers excellent antibacterial and preservative effects while generating no harmful substances. In addition, the company strives to make healthy furniture by processing with methods that minimize the generation of harmful substances and by using only materials with strong structural strength and durability.

All cut edges, which release large amounts of harmful substances, are also finished. Because 70% of harmful substances are emitted from unfinished cut edges of raw materials, the exposed surface area of unfinished PB (particle board) material is a key factor determining the eco-friendliness of furniture. For reasons of technical capability and cost, it is common for many companies to finish only the one visible surface, but Hanssem finishes all six surfaces to block the emission of harmful substances. For the finishing material as well, Hanssem uses eco-friendly nano foil—which is harmless to the environment and the human body—rather than PVC, which is at the center of environmental and safety controversies.

Along with eco-friendliness, Hanssem has also improved safety. To this end, the company upgraded its raw material specifications. For components that require structural stability, the thickness was increased from 15T (mm) to 18T, raising the safe load capacity by about 30% compared to before. The thickness of the edge that finishes the cut sections of raw materials was also set at 1.2T for the front and 0.6T for the remaining three sides, enhancing safety and durability by blocking external moisture. Just as important as the raw materials are the various fittings. By using only fittings that improve stability and durability, the products offer stability and durability about 30% superior to ordinary products. In the case of sinks, a ceramic coating finish makes them about nine times harder and more durable than ordinary products, and they are hygienic because they are not easily contaminated or subject to bacterial growth.
