Hanssem Co., Ltd. (CEO Kang Seung-soo), a total home interior specialist company, held the inauguration ceremony for its new CEO and Chairman Kang Seung-soo on November 2 at the Hanssem headquarters in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul.

At the event, Hanssem congratulated the inauguration of new CEO and Chairman Kang Seung-soo and heralded a new beginning for Hanssem—which marks its 50th anniversary in 2020—as it prepares for the next 50 years.

In his inaugural address, Chairman Kang said, “Hanssem, which started in 1970 with a mere 2 million won in capital and a 23.1㎡ (7-pyeong) office, was able to become Korea's No. 1 total home interior company because over the past 50 years it took on challenges with dreams and passion, without fear.” He added, “Going forward, I intend to begin a new 50-year challenge to lead change in the global home interior market of the digital age.”

Chairman Kang cited three approaches to strengthening the company's competitiveness: ‘Design,’ ‘Digital,’ and ‘Talent Development.’ Chairman Kang said, “Through ‘Design beyond East & West,’ we will lead consumers' lifestyles, and by integrating IT technology into the home interior business, we will innovate toward a high-efficiency, high-value-added business structure.” He also said, “With a corporate culture of autonomy and creativity, I will build a Hanssem that challenges its goals without fear of failure.”

He then announced his key priority initiatives. Chairman Kang emphasized, “We will assemble total home interior space packages and distribute them both online and offline to pursue 10 trillion won in domestic market sales.” He also said, “Based on the capabilities we have accumulated in Korea, we will localize in overseas markets.” In addition, he said, “Rather than resting on being No. 1 in kitchen furniture, just as we succeeded in new businesses by preparing our home furniture business and remodeling package business, we will discover future growth drivers such as the smart home.”

Chairman Kang also extended his thanks to the ‘customers,’ ‘dealerships and partner companies,’ ‘frontline workers,’ and ‘shareholders’ who have been part of Hanssem's growth. “Hanssem has been able to grow because of the interest and support of many people,” he said, adding, “I will not forget this gratitude, will uphold ‘integrity management’ and ‘win-win management’ as our top priority values, and will fulfill the company's social responsibility.”

To the executives and employees, he said, “I will transform Hanssem into a company you can take pride and confidence in,” and expressed his aspiration to “create a horizontal corporate culture that promotes communication based on mutual respect and trust and allows autonomy and creativity to flourish.”

Finally, he concluded his inaugural address by saying, “If we take on the future with the aspiration to build a world-class company, we can surely create a Hanssem that is recognized and loved worldwide,” and urged, “I hope many young talents will take on this challenge together and become the leading players of Hanssem's future.”
