Combining remodeling capabilities with IoT to complete a ‘Smart Home One-Stop Package’
Hanssem Co., Ltd. (Chairman and CEO Kang Seung-soo), a comprehensive home interior specialist, announced that it has invested 3 billion won in the home IoT (Internet of Things) specialist startup ‘GOQUAL,’ as it accelerates its entry into the ‘Smart Home’ market.
Hanssem’s investment in ‘GOQUAL’ can be seen as a strategic move to secure a leading position in the ‘smart home’ field, which represents the future direction of the interior market. In addition, using this investment as a starting point, Hanssem plans to continue investing in promising startups with competitive strengths in the market.
‘GOQUAL’ is a home IoT specialist startup that develops a variety of products capable of realizing the ‘smart home’—such as ‘smart motorized curtains,’ ‘smart lighting,’ and ‘Smart Home Cameras’—and that operates and develops its own cloud platform to connect them. Recently, it has been expanding its reach in the IoT field by pursuing smart-space consulting businesses such as smart offices and smart stores.
Notably, ‘GOQUAL’ operates the home IoT brand ‘Hej home.’ Launched in 2019, ‘Hej home’ offers a variety of smart devices that make IoT easy to access in everyday life. In just two years since its launch, ‘Hej home’ has amassed approximately 250,000 users.
Hanssem decided on this investment after highly evaluating the technology and growth potential of ‘GOQUAL,’ which possesses smart-device development capabilities and operates its own cloud platform. The two companies also plan to jointly develop a home network platform and smart devices to realize the ‘smart home.’ Furthermore, Hanssem plans to complete a ‘Smart Home One-Stop Package’ that can propose ‘smart home’-based remodeling to customers by incorporating not only ‘GOQUAL’ but also the smart devices operated by various home appliance makers and the home network platform development capabilities of IT companies into its own remodeling business, ‘Hanssem Rehaus.’
