‘The Sense of Space, lasola — Meeting the Sense of the Earth’ Exhibition Unveils Integrated Brand ‘lasola’
Hansol Homedeco, a specialist in eco-friendly building materials, unveiled its new integrated brand ‘lasola’ for the first time at the Seoul Living Design Fair held this past February, drawing industry attention with its ‘Sense of Space.’
At this exhibition, Hansol Homedeco went beyond a mere line-up of products such as flooring, walls, and doors to present a spatial experience grounded in the essential power of natural materials, seeking to guide our thoughts and values in a positive direction and to offer the joy of new perceptions and lifestyles.
True to the exhibition title, ‘The Sense of Space, lasola — Meeting the Sense of the Earth,’ Hansol Homedeco explored the Earth’s fundamental materials one by one, styling the space around the concept of traveling through various corners of nature. In an age that has lost its senses, the exhibition sought to reconnect the relationship between nature and humankind and, further, to convey the wish of renewing life.
Under the brand concept that ‘the finest sense comes from nature,’ ‘lasola’ takes as its motifs the fundamental energies of the Earth—soil and stone, metal, wood, and water—capturing the mysterious colors of nature as it actually exists on Earth. In particular, the rich beauty of nature, such as the black sand of Reynisfjara beach in southern Iceland and the warm rock hues of the Greek island of Milos, was expressed in the flooring and wall materials.
The exhibition space allowed visitors to feel the coexistence of nature and humankind. A total of five travel destinations unfolded: ▲‘The Journey of Stone,’ styled with lasola Collect Wall (Verona Pink) expressing the texture of natural stone from Italy’s Dolomiti region; ▲‘The Lyricism of Air,’ created with lasola Collect Wall (Paper White) that captures the materiality and warmth of Korean hanji paper; ▲‘The Black of Ink,’ styled with lasola Collect Wall (Fiara Black) that reproduces Iceland’s black sand beaches; ▲‘The Breath of Wood,’ finished with lasola Collect Wall (Egmont Oak) and lasola sb Floor Real Texture (Dun Natural Oak), which convey the materiality of trees grown in New Zealand’s Egmont National Park; and ▲‘The Origin of Soil and Stone,’ created with lasola Collect Wall (Mojave Sand) inspired by the drifting sands of the Mojave Desert in the United States, lasola Collect Wall (Milos Grey) that reproduces the rock texture and color of the Greek island of Milos, and lasola sb Floor Stone (Granitello Grey).
The ‘lasola Collect Wall,’ applied as the main finishing material for the exhibition space, is characterized not only by its ability to render vivid colors but also by its excellent flame-retardant performance and strong moisture resistance, and is scheduled for release this June. In addition, Hansol Homedeco presented a diverse line-up, including ‘lasola sb Floor Real Texture,’ an eco-friendly laminate floor that richly expresses wood grain; ‘lasola sb Floor Stone,’ an eco-friendly laminate floor that brings out the texture of marble; and ‘lasola Story Board,’ an eco-friendly E0-grade furniture material.
Yoo Yi-hwa, the architect who served as overall director of this exhibition, said, “Because the essential power of the Earth’s soil, stone, metal, and wood is a fundamental energy that makes the human inner self even stronger, we sought to find the uniqueness inherent in nature and to discover its intrinsic beauty. Through the textures, colors, and vitality that exist all across the Earth we must protect, we hope visitors can experience a new sense of space where nature and humankind meet.”
Meanwhile, overall director Yoo Yi-hwa, as chair of Hansol Homedeco’s Design Innovation Committee, is responsible for the entire process of the design concept and product development of the ‘Collect Wall’ realized in the exhibition.
▲ The Lyricism of Air — Capturing the pure white purity and warmth inherent in the very materiality of paper. To meet the gentleness that paper possesses, it was styled together with a small table made of red lacquered material, adding dignity to the space.
▲ The Breath of Wood — Reflecting anew on humanity within a space through the warmth that wood holds. Protecting and discovering the intrinsic beauty of wood, and recovering it once again within the space.
▲ The Journey of Stone — Learning the sense of space from the sense of the Earth.
▲ The Black of Ink — Drawing the somber depth of ink-black into the space, set in contrast with the natural, distant depth of white inherent in our own white porcelain.
▲ The Origin of Soil and Stone — Metaphorically expressing natural elements such as the sunlight and rain of a sandy desert, paying homage to the natural vitality that soil and stone possess.
