Recognized for Contributions to the Advancement of the Chemical Industry
Han Young-jae, Chairman of Noroo Group, was awarded the ‘Gold Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit,’ the highest honor, at the ‘48th National Quality Management Convention’ in recognition of his contributions to the advancement of the chemical industry. The Gold Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit is the highest grade of decoration, conferred upon individuals whose achievements have made a distinct contribution to the nation’s industrial development.
In 1998, Chairman Han took office as Chairman of Noroo Holdings, the holding company of a specialized integrated chemical enterprise that researches and produces paints and resins through Noroo brands such as Noroo Paint. Since then, through active participation in government policy, he has contributed to national industrial development and to enhancing the quality competitiveness of Korea’s paint industry.
In addition, guided by the management philosophy of ‘Contributing to the Nation through Business,’ he built a quality management system encompassing technological innovation and the development of new technologies in paints and resins, leading the domestic premium paint market and demonstrating quality and technological capabilities that rival those of premium products from overseas.
Setting the goal of developing Noroo Group into a world-class, top-tier enterprise, Chairman Han focused on strengthening competitiveness through stable, substance-oriented growth and industry specialization driven by technological innovation. As a result, the company achieved the largest number of patent registrations in the industry, while also obtaining Korea’s first USDA certification in the United States for a white-bio paint, along with numerous other eco-friendly certifications—accomplishments that elevated the standing of Korean paint brands.
In particular, after declaring group-wide ESG management activities, Chairman Han achieved strong management results in non-financial corporate factors such as Environment, Social, and Governance. As a result, in the 2022 ESG evaluation by the Korea Institute of Corporate Governance and Sustainability, both Noroo Holdings and Noroo Paint received an overall grade of A.
