Sponsors products advancing to the finals of a furniture design competition; presents the Häfele 100th Anniversary Award

Park Hye-rim of Hyupsung University wins for 'Catharsis of Aurora'

Häfele Korea announced that it sponsored products that advanced to the finals of the 18th Furniture Living Design Competition.

Of a total of 216 works submitted to the 18th Furniture Living Design Competition held this past June, 30 works advanced to the finals and were exhibited at the Korea International Furniture & Interior Industry Exhibition (KOFURN), Korea's leading global furniture exhibition. For the product sponsorship, nine products were selected from among the applicants whose works advanced to the finals.

The final judging, conducted during the exhibition period, took the form of evaluating the actual works in person on-site. The judging criteria were marketability, design, and feasibility, and outstanding works were selected accordingly. To the single team that won the final Gold Award, Häfele Korea presented the Häfele 100th Anniversary Award in celebration of the company's 100th anniversary, which falls in the coming year of 2023.

'Catharsis of Aurora,' a sofa embodying the catharsis of the aurora, created by Häfele Award winner Park Hye-rim of Hyupsung University, incorporates Häfele Loox into the sofa to offer users both comfort and the emotional impact of the aurora in the night sky. In addition, using a Häfele Mesh device, the lighting can be controlled in various ways via a mobile phone—from changing the lighting color to adjusting brightness and light sources—allowing users to set the diverse hues of the aurora.

Häfele is a global furniture and architectural hardware company that takes the lead in discovering talent and strengthening capabilities with the goal of advancing the furniture industry, and it has recently continued its active engagement through initiatives such as showroom tours for furniture design students and participation as a sponsor of the Furniture Living Design Competition.

A Häfele Korea official said, "From the Furniture Living Design Competition to the KOFURN furniture exhibition, it was an honor to meet so many designers with diversity and originality," adding, "We will continue to spare no effort in providing various forms of support and sponsorship so that they can fully demonstrate their abilities and grow into the talents who will lead the furniture industry."
