Signs Agreement to Establish
Research System for Domestic Timber Resources
Hyundai Livart is joining hands with the National Institute of Forest Science to pursue the production of furniture using domestic timber resources.
Total interior company Hyundai Livart announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the National Institute of Forest Science to establish a research system for sustainable domestic timber resources. The signing ceremony, held on March 29 at Hyundai Livart's headquarters in Yongin, was attended by key officials including Kwon Tae-jin, Executive Vice President and Head of Hyundai Livart's Sales Division, and Son Dong-won, Director of the Division of Forest Products Utilization at the National Institute of Forest Science.
Through this agreement, the two organizations plan to pursue cooperation in areas including ▲the exchange of technology and information on the use of domestic timber in furniture materials, ▲the exchange of information to raise public awareness regarding the use of domestic timber, and ▲the exchange of information on environmental impact assessments related to the manufacture of furniture using domestic timber.
In particular, Hyundai Livart intends to actively pursue product commercialization by jointly researching furniture production processes, designs, and technologies that utilize high-value-added domestic timber such as birch. In addition, Hyundai Livart plans to actively engage in external promotion, including the production of media content that informs consumers of the excellence of domestic timber and its effect in reducing carbon emissions.
Kwon Tae-jin, Executive Vice President and Head of Hyundai Livart's Sales Division, said, "Hyundai Livart is carrying out a variety of eco-friendly activities, such as creating carbon-neutral forests and the project to achieve zero use of Styrofoam filler material, in order to rise as an ESG-leading company," adding, "By leveraging Hyundai Livart's own high-quality furniture production infrastructure, which pursues design differentiation and premium quality, we will actively take part in enhancing the utilization of domestic timber resources and expanding the effects of carbon neutrality."
