Improving Living Environments, Providing Sponsorship and Donations
Executives and employees of Hyundai Elevator visited aging residential facilities, including elderly households, in the Chungju area to carry out ‘home repair volunteer activities.’
On September 28 and October 18, some 10 members of ‘Hyundai Nuri Bodeum Volunteer Corps,’ Hyundai Elevator’s in-house volunteer club, visited elderly households in the Chungju area and carried out volunteer work repairing old and worn-out areas throughout the homes. They undertook activities to improve the living environment, including wallpapering, laying flooring, painting, and replacing and cleaning aged and neglected items such as sinks and lighting fixtures. The Hyundai Nuri Bodeum Volunteer Corps is composed of members who have completed external training in fields requiring specialized knowledge—such as electrical work, wallpapering, and plumbing—or who hold professional qualifications, enabling them to carry out volunteer work in a systematic and substantive manner. Prior to undertaking home repairs, they never neglect to receive preliminary hands-on practice and safety training.
Since its founding in 2005, the Hyundai Nuri Bodeum Volunteer Corps has visited aging residential facilities in the region every year to carry out home repair volunteer activities. It has supported a total of 132 local households—121 households in the Icheon area of Gyeonggi Province, and 11 households after relocating to Chungju in 2022—so that they can live in more comfortable and safe environments.
The company also actively supports the activities of the Hyundai Nuri Bodeum Volunteer Corps. It assists the corps’ activities by providing 6 million won in annual funding and guaranteeing employees paid leave so that they can participate in weekday volunteer activities twice a year.
In addition to home repair volunteer work, the Hyundai Nuri Bodeum Volunteer Corps carries out a wide range of volunteer activities—including helping child-headed households, providing assistance to the elderly and people with disabilities, lending a hand with farm work such as fruit cultivation, cleaning up river environments, and making kimchi for those in need—as well as various forms of sponsorship and donation, spreading warmth throughout the local community.
