Hyundai L&C has taken part in the world's largest furniture materials and equipment exhibition to strengthen its brand recognition in the global market.

Hyundai L&C, a comprehensive building materials company under the Hyundai Department Store Group, participated in 'Interzum 2019,' held in Cologne, Germany from May 21 to 24. 'Interzum' is the world's largest furniture materials and equipment exhibition, held every two years, and this year some 1,800 building materials, furniture and interior companies from around the world took part. Hyundai L&C has now participated for the third consecutive time, having done so every event since 2015.

At this exhibition, Hyundai L&C displayed a total of around 100 products, including some 40 varieties of its MMA (methyl methacrylate)-based engineered stone 'Hanex' and some 60 varieties of 'Glossia,' a furniture film made from PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate), a type of plastic.

In particular, at this exhibition the company unveiled for the first time 'Hanex-Rehau,' a new engineered stone product jointly developed with 'Rehau,' a premium German building materials company. Rehau is one of Europe's top three PVC window and door manufacturers, producing and distributing furniture and interior surface materials, and operates 84 sales offices and 25 factories across Europe.

Since 2017, Hyundai L&C has held a 'strategic partnership on PVC windows and doors' with Rehau and has launched premium windows and doors; with the joint development of this new product, the two companies have expanded their collaboration from windows and doors into the building materials sector.

The jointly developed 'Hanex-Rehau' comprises a total of 12 varieties, featuring colors and patterns that harmonize with Rehau's 'RAUVISIO crystal,' a premium surface material for kitchen furniture.

Hyundai L&C also showcased its eco-friendly furniture film 'Glossia' at the exhibition. Hyundai L&C plans to actively target European furniture makers with a strong interest in eco-friendly materials, led by four varieties of its Recycled PET 'Glossia' products, which are the first in Korea to obtain the global eco-friendly certification 'GRS (Global Recycle Standard).'

The 'Glossia' products made with Recycled PET use approximately 77.8% recycled PET among their total PET materials, and through a year of development they achieved the same level of quality as products using only ordinary PET material. Because all of the recycled PET material used in the products is sourced solely from waste PET bottles generated in Korea, the products are also expected to help raise Korea's waste PET bottle recycling rate.

A Hyundai L&C official said, "Inquiries about our eco-friendly material products have been pouring in from major European furniture and interior companies such as 3B and Media, which have recently shown strong interest in eco-friendly materials," adding, "With 'Interzum 2019' as a starting point, we will accelerate our push into the European building materials market together with Rehau."
