Conducts Intensive On-Site Inspections
With the peak of the summer heat approaching, DL E&C has established site-by-site response plans and is currently carrying out intensive inspections. On May 29, together with the Ministry of Employment and Labor, the company visited its construction sites in the Gyeongnam region to conduct inspections.
The inspection was attended by the head of the Ministry of Employment and Labor's Jinju District Office, the director of the Industrial Accident Prevention Division, and a labor inspector, and was also joined by DL E&C CSO (Chief Safety Officer) Lee Gil-po. During the site visit, the inspection focused on: ▲plans to install rest facilities and awnings for heatwave response; ▲plans to distribute cooling equipment (cooling vests, cool scarves, etc.); and ▲the operation and readiness of programs for worker hydration and rotating rest breaks. Jeong Won-hee, head of the Ministry of Employment and Labor's Jinju District Office, emphasized that “in preparation for this summer's heatwave, special care and preemptive measures are absolutely essential to ensure that on-site workers are not exposed to heat-related illnesses.” DL E&C plans to run a heatwave safety and health campaign in preparation for this summer's heat. The campaign was designed based on the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency's five basic heatwave rules (water, breeze/shade, rest, cooling equipment, and emergency response). DL E&C's “Four Arithmetic Operations” heatwave response campaign consists of “addition” of water and salt, “subtraction” of outdoor work during heatwave hours, “multiplication” of shade, rest, and cooling equipment, and “division” of attention (to worker health) and information, and it includes specific action plans for each.
In connection with the “Four Arithmetic Operations” campaign, DL E&C distributed an on-site inspection checklist. It includes checking facilities for worker hydration and salt intake, the provision of rest and cooling facilities as well as rest periods for each heatwave stage, and management measures and educational programs for workers who are vulnerable to heat-related illnesses. During the intensive heatwave management period from mid-June onward, the company plans to receive reports on the relevant on-site facilities and their operating status at least once a week and to verify compliance.
