Discovering talent in the interior design field and promoting industry growth
Seven works selected, including 'Onjae (溫在): A Living Space Where Warmth Resides'
KCC Glass (CEO Kim Nae-hwan) has selected and announced seven winning works from the '1st HomeCC Interior Design Competition' hosted by HomeCC Mall, its online shopping mall specializing in interiors.
The HomeCC Interior Design Competition was created to discover talented individuals with potential in the field of interior design, to support their future advancement into related fields, and thereby to promote the development of the interior industry.
In this inaugural competition, a wide range of creative works earned the honor of an award amid strong participation from future designers whose fresh ideas stood out. Following a submission period from October to December last year and roughly a month of judging, the winners were selected. A total of seven works were chosen as final winners: △Grand Prize (1 work) △Best Award (1 work) △Excellence Award (2 works) △Encouragement Award (3 works).
The Grand Prize winner receives a certificate and prize money of 2 million won, and the Best Award winner receives a certificate and prize money of 1 million won, while the remaining winners are each awarded a certificate and prize money as well.
The honor of the Grand Prize went to Hwang Min-geun, a student at Myongji University, who submitted a work titled 'Onjae (溫在): A Living Space Where Warmth Resides.' The Grand Prize–winning work realized a 'Rustic Life' interior that reflects the lifestyle trends of the MZ generation, who—amid the rise of single-person households—seek a contented, simple life away from the complexity of the city. Composing a 40㎡ (about 12.1 pyeong) officetel space arranged as a 1.5-room layout into a lyrical space that is both convenient and evokes the tranquility and warmth unique to the countryside, the work earned high praise from the judges.
The selection results can be found in the notice section of the HomeCC Mall customer center, and the winning works will be introduced sequentially at the HomeCC Mall showroom.
A KCC Glass official said, "It is deeply meaningful that so many highly capable future designers took part in the HomeCC Interior Design Competition despite it being our very first," adding, "Going forward, as an interior specialty brand that knows the home best, HomeCC will continue its diverse efforts to contribute to the development of the interior industry, add value to spaces, and present a better residential environment."
