Growing trend of installing ventilation systems for school infection control amid COVID-19 surge
Himpel (CEO Kim Jung-hwan), a company specializing in ventilation appliances, announced that its ventilation system sales have risen sharply as more schools install ventilation systems for infection control.
After reviewing its ventilation system sales figures, Himpel found that the annual sales volume of Himpel ventilation systems installed in elementary, middle and high schools last year increased approximately 8-fold or more compared to the previous year. Ventilation system sales from January to March this year also surpassed 400% of the figure for the same period last year, continuing their steady growth.
The analysis suggests that, as normal school attendance resumes in earnest amid the ongoing COVID-19 situation, frontline schools have moved to install ventilation equipment in order to respond swiftly to infection control and prevent any harm to students' health.
Even in cases where schools already had air purifiers, many still installed ventilation systems—with concerns that internal-circulation air purifiers could spread viruses cited as one of the reasons for installing ventilation systems.
Himpel ventilation systems are drawing attention as products for school infection control because they curb mass viral infection and, with best-in-class specifications, also deliver the added benefit of improving the learning environment.
The Himpel ventilation system Huven series allows ventilation without opening windows, and when operated at maximum airflow it removes 98% of the droplets suspended in indoor air within about 10 minutes of use, curbing the spread of droplet-borne viruses.
In addition, the ventilation system features a built-in high-performance two-stage filter system (10T pre-filter + 70T HEPA filter) that blocks 99.96% or more of fine dust, creating a comfortable classroom. To help students concentrate on their studies, it achieves the industry's lowest noise level (46.2 dB) at the 'high' airflow setting, allowing it to operate without disturbing classes even during lessons—making it highly popular among school officials.
