Hympel Co., Ltd., a company specializing in ventilation systems, announced that its CEO Kim Jung-hwan received a Presidential Citation at the 'Korea Industrial Technology Association 40th Anniversary Ceremony and Global Forum 2019,' hosted by the Korea Industrial Technology Association (KOITA) and held on October 2 in the Grand Ballroom of the Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas.
The Korea Industrial Technology Association (hereinafter KOITA) is an industry R&D organization established under corporate leadership on February 15, 1979, with the aim of contributing to strengthening national competitiveness through the promotion of technology development in the industrial sector. It currently has approximately 8,600 member companies, and since 1991 it has been entrusted by the Ministry of Science and Technology (now the Ministry of Science and ICT) to operate the Corporate R&D Center certification system.
KOITA explained the background of the Presidential Citation, noting that, together with the industrial technology sector, Hympel has consistently pursued research, development, and investment as a technology innovation company, and has contributed to the advancement of the nation's industrial technology, thereby enhancing the pride of industrial technology professionals.
With Korea's leading ventilation products, Hympel continues to grow while setting the standard for the related market. Holding more than 60% of the domestic ventilation market, Hympel is pursuing a consumer-tailored strategy that allows consumers to encounter Hympel ventilation fans more easily and quickly through the expansion of online sales via shopping malls and through new distribution channels such as dealerships nationwide, E-Mart Traders, and Lotte Hi-mart.
In particular, Hympel's strategy is to strengthen its ventilation system (heat recovery ventilator) business division—which covers not only the ventilation fans installed in home bathrooms but also systems that ventilate entire indoor spaces—and to shift its business direction toward becoming a specialist in Indoor Air Quality (IAQ), thereby leading the related market on the basis of its competitive edge in both performance and design.
Meanwhile, at this commemorative event, a total of 50 people were selected as individuals of distinguished service who contributed to the advancement of the nation's industrial technology, including 2 recipients of the Industrial Medal, 2 recipients of the Industrial Commendation, 4 recipients of the Presidential Citation, 4 recipients of the Prime Minister's Citation, 30 recipients of the Minister of Science and ICT's Citation, and 8 recipients of the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy's Citation. KOITA operates awards and certification programs such as the IR52 Jang Young-shil Award (1991), the Korea Engineer Award (2002), the NET mark (1993, formerly the KT mark), and the NEP mark (2018), as well as various programs and initiatives to support corporate R&D, including the Corporate One-Stop Service operation project and the research personnel recruitment support project.
