Samhwa Paints ‘Time Warp’

Bringing the Future of the Digital Age into Reality

The Color Design Center of Samhwa Paints Industrial Co., Ltd. (represented by President Oh Jin-soo) has selected ‘Time Warp’ as its Color Nuance of the Year keyword for 2022 and proposed five colors.

‘Time Warp’ refers to a phenomenon in which events of the past or future appear intermingled in the present. It was chosen as this year’s Color Nuance keyword because 2022 is expected to be a year in which people live in the present while simultaneously bringing the future vision of the digital age into reality. It also signifies that, as individuals enter a nano society, they will each experience different time depending on how they respond to such changes.

The five colors that express Time Warp are Spice Beige, Fuscia, Teal Black, Garden Leaf, and Sky Blue.

Teal Black, which sits at the center of the five colors, simultaneously represents ongoing uncertainty and the expansion of the unknown. Fuscia represents hyper-personalization and the widening gap in growth, while Garden Leaf represents the value of sustainability, which has become even more important in the digital age. Spice Beige and Sky Blue, the colors that support the primary hues, symbolize stability, essence, and ease.

Derived from an analysis of global trends and future lifestyles, Samhwa Paints’ ‘Color Nuance of the Year’ differs from a ‘Color of the Year.’ Rather than designating a single trend color, it refers to a color flow that can be applied across various fields related to color design, such as architecture, interior design, automobiles, home appliances, and the IT industry.

Lee Sang-hee, head of Samhwa Paints’ Color Design Center, said, “The Color Nuance focuses on the color families that show the most pronounced increase in importance and influence within the shifting color trends revealed through global research and other sources, and it carries the message that the Samhwa Paints Color Design Center wishes to convey in 2022,” adding, “Together with the Time Warp colors, we look forward to a 2022 that actively leads simultaneous growth and change.”
