Shinil sees strong demand for appliances that reflect consumers' increasingly segmented tastes

Rising demand for low-power appliances amid high oil and commodity prices

Shinil Electronics (hereinafter Shinil), a comprehensive home appliance company in Korea, has selected 'SUPER (S.U.P.E.R)' as its 2023 home appliance trend keyword. The 'SUPER (S.U.P.E.R)' framework presented by Shinil refers to five core trends: △Small data △User friendly △Pet Humanization △Economy △Reality.

Noting the growing importance of 'Small data' as consumer tastes become more diverse, Shinil predicted that appliances capable of maximizing consumers' psychological satisfaction—by leveraging data derived from everyday behavior such as individual preferences and lifestyles—will become a powerful weapon.

Along with this, the company forecast that the popularity of 'User friendly' appliances that provide practical help with household chores, such as food waste disposers and robot vacuum cleaners, will continue across the industry as a whole.

In addition, with the spread of a 'Pet Humanization' culture in which companion animals are regarded as family members, Shinil expects consumption patterns favoring pet-only appliances or appliances equipped with pet functions to become more pronounced. Last month, Shinil released the 'Hybrid Standing Dryer' featuring pet-care functions, and it continues to see brisk sales among pet-owning households.

Furthermore, as an 'Economy'-minded consumption trend spreads amid high oil and commodity prices, the company predicted that more consumers will seek out low-power appliances. Shinil is currently receiving a favorable response for its 'Eco Cube Heater' and 'Premium Carbon Carpet Mat,' which highlight low-power, high-efficiency features, and—considering the characteristics of seasonal appliances that are used for long periods—it plans to unveil appliances equipped with low-power functions again this summer.

On top of this, the industry's efforts to strengthen sales using 'Reality'-format live commerce are expected to continue. This year as well, Shinil has entered into strategic business partnerships with well-known domestic online shopping platforms and has set a goal of expanding live commerce broadcasts of its flagship products by 150% compared to last year.

Lim Won-taek, head of Shinil's Marketing Business Division, said, "In an age of uncertainty, it is important to respond nimbly to changes in the market and among consumers," adding, "We will focus on strengthening our competitiveness by quickly detecting trends in the home appliance market, while striving to deliver the best possible customer experience."

Meanwhile, Shinil Electronics is a comprehensive home appliance specialist that offers a wide range of high-value-added products—including seasonal appliances as well as kitchen appliances, environmental appliances, and health devices—based on market-leading technology development, sophisticated design, and reasonable prices.
