Recognized for solar BIPV products installed in air-conditioner outdoor-unit rooms and more
High marks for supplying resource-circulation products and driving exemplary ESG management
LX Hausys received the Grand Prize in the Environmental Technology & Management category at the ‘2024 Seoul Environmental Awards’ announced by the Seoul Metropolitan Government on June 5.
Now in its 28th year, the ‘Seoul Environmental Awards’ is the most prestigious environmental award in Seoul, presented each year to citizens, companies, and organizations that contribute to building ‘Seoul, a 2050 Carbon-Neutral City.’ The awards span five categories: climate action, energy transition, resource circulation, environmental education, and environmental technology & management. LX Hausys earned the Grand Prize in the environmental technology & management category in recognition of its industry-leading supply of resource-circulation products, as one of Korea’s representative building-materials companies, and its drive for exemplary ESG management.
First, LX Hausys received high marks for contributing to Seoul’s mandatory zero-energy building policy and carbon-neutrality goals through the supply of its ‘Solar System Louver’ product, launched in the second half of last year, which combines solar power generation with the louvers of air-conditioner outdoor-unit rooms in apartment complexes. The ‘Solar System Louver’ is a BIPV (Building Integrated Photovoltaic System) product in which solar modules are integrated into the louver of an apartment’s air-conditioner outdoor-unit room. Since it only requires replacing the existing aluminum louver with a solar-module louver, it is convenient in terms of securing space as well as installation and maintenance, and has been gaining popularity in the market. In addition, LX Hausys received a favorable evaluation for taking the lead in resource-circulation activities as a representative of Korea’s building-materials industry—being the first in the industry to introduce a ‘Recycle Furniture Film’ made from ‘recycled PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate)’ derived from recycled plastic bottles, which it supplies to major construction companies. On top of this, LX Hausys also scored highly for newly establishing an ESG vision of ‘Innovation for Customers, ESG for the Future’ last year and pursuing shared growth with local communities through authentic ESG management activities such as reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving the living environment of vulnerable social groups.
Since its launch in 2009, LX Hausys has continued its ‘Creating Happy Spaces’ activity, which supports renovation work for local children’s centers, and has also participated in the ‘Green Early Childhood Space Conversion Support Project’ with the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute and others, donating eco-friendly flooring to support the improvement of aging daycare center facilities.
