Fursys Surveys 1,000 Office Workers
Proposing Office Design Solutions

Fursys, a company specializing in office environments, has released its '2024 Office Trend Report,' which assesses the major trends in the Korean office landscape in 2023 and offers an outlook on the future direction of workplace change.
The report takes an in-depth look at the results of a 'Worker Experience Survey' conducted on 1,000 domestic office workers in the fourth quarter of 2023. According to the survey, the surface-level understanding derived from employees' words and actions can differ from what they actually think inside.
For example, contrary to the common perception that today's employees clearly separate their work self from their everyday self after the workday ends, there is a growing tendency to accept work as a part of life. 66% of respondents said it is good to also engage in non-work communication and activities in the office, and this tendency was especially pronounced among Gen Z respondents. The work-life balance trend of separating work and life is on the wane.
When office environment satisfaction was evaluated using six keywords—autonomy, health, flexibility, collaboration, immersion, and horizontality—'horizontality' ranked first, while 'autonomy' came in last.
Autonomy is a factor that assesses whether employees can choose their own workspace. In response to the question of whether 'our company's office environment allows me to autonomously choose where I work,' 85% of the low-autonomy group who answered 'not at all' preferred private workspaces, whereas the high-autonomy group showed a low preference for private workspaces. This shows that when employees have the autonomy to choose their workspace, it becomes possible to foster an atmosphere and sense of bonding conducive to active communication among employees.
