‘Into the Warm (溫) Neighborhood Woods’ for the Fifth Consecutive Year

KCC Signs Business Agreement

Participating in the Improvement of Low-Rise Residential Areas

KCC (CEO Chung Mong-jin) has signed the ‘2022 Into the Warm (溫) Neighborhood Woods’ business agreement together with Seoul’s Dobong-gu and welfare organizations such as the Low-Rise Residential Regeneration Project Group, continuing its low-rise residential environment improvement project for a fifth year.

On August 11, KCC held the signing ceremony for the Into the Warm Neighborhood Woods business agreement at the Dobong-gu Office, pledging to improve the residential environment of Angol Village in Dobong-gu and to support the revitalization of the village community.

KCC will provide 150 million won for this project and will improve the residential environment of the aging low-rise residential area through eco-friendly paint, windows and doors, and thermal insulation materials. In addition, using its own eco-friendly paint ‘Supuro,’ the company plans to paint murals that will brighten the atmosphere of the village, install solar-powered street lamps, place comfortable chairs, and carry out other environmental improvement work for the village.

Beyond this, the company will also pursue village community revitalization projects in parallel, such as the ‘On Sup Big-Heart Children’s Cafeteria,’ where local residents and children make and share food together; the ‘Senior Choir,’ in which local residents join together to sing; and the launch of the ‘Jang-han Saramdeul Angol Village’ brand, which turns sauces and pastes (jang, 醬) fermented directly by residents using eco-friendly ingredients into marketable products.

The Into the Warm Neighborhood Woods project is one of the flagship social contribution initiatives of KCC, which is actively pursuing ESG management, and is carried out through cooperation among local governments, private companies, and non-profit organizations to transform poor low-rise residential areas in Seoul into safe and pleasant environments. Since 2018, starting with Eungam Sangol Village in Eungam-dong, Eunpyeong-gu, KCC has carried out 85 murals, 8 residential environment improvements, and improvements to community facilities across four areas, including Samtaegi Village in Sangwolgok-dong, Seongbuk-gu; Uri Village in Bukgajwa-dong, Seodaemun-gu; and Gulcham Village in Nangok-dong, Gwanak-gu.
