KINTEX in Ilsan — Helping Korean Companies Open Up Domestic Market Channels
A Purchasing Consultation Session in the Photonics Convergence Industry Featuring Participation by Major Corporations and Public Enterprises

The '2024 International Photonics Convergence Expo (LED&OLED EXPO),' Korea's premier professional trade exhibition in the photonics convergence industry now in its 22nd year, will be held over three days from June 26 to 28 at KINTEX in Ilsan.
The event is hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the LED Photonics Convergence Industry Forum, and organized by the Korea Association for Photonics Industry Development and the Korea Commission for Corporate Partnership. It is sponsored by the City of Bucheon, the Korea Energy Agency, the Korea Evaluation Institute of Industrial Technology, the Korea Photonics Technology Institute, the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute, the Korea Electronics Technology Institute, the KIEL Research Institute, the Cheorwon Plasma Research Institute, the Korean Institute of Illuminating and Electrical Installation Engineers, the Korea Smart Lighting Cooperative, the Korea Lighting Industry Cooperative, the Korean Society for LED and Optoelectronics, the Taiwan Optoelectronic Semiconductor Industry Association, the China Association of Lighting Industry, the Japan LED Association, and the Japan LED Light Source Promotion and Development Organization.
In addition, the 'Photonics Convergence Industry Forum,' bringing together the industry's leading experts, will be held concurrently during the exhibition period.
To help participating companies open up new domestic market channels, a 'Photonics Convergence Innovative Technology Purchasing Consultation Session' involving some 50 major domestic corporations and public institutions will be conducted together with the Korea Commission for Corporate Partnership. Now in its fourth year, this consultation session invites major domestic corporations in the photonics convergence field, and over the past three years it has served as a venue for communication among participating companies, large corporations, and public institutions—supporting technology cooperation, development, and product purchasing for small and medium-sized enterprises in the photonics convergence industry, and thereby contributing to more active technology exchange and collaboration between large and smaller companies. Last year's purchasing consultation session drew participation from leading Korean corporations and public institutions such as Samsung C&T, POSCO E&C, SK Chemicals, Samsung Display, Lotte, E-Land, the Korea Deposit Insurance Corporation, and the Sudokwon Landfill Site Management Corporation. This year's event is expected to become a venue for creating new business between large corporations and public institutions and small and medium-sized enterprises that face difficulties entering the domestic market.
In addition, a government awards ceremony for outstanding new-technology companies (honor level: Presidential Award) will be held to boost the morale of companies that have contributed to the development of the photonics convergence industry through domestic technology development and enhanced competitiveness. This awards ceremony is the most prestigious event in the photonics convergence field; it began in 2008 as the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award and was elevated to the Presidential Award in 2014. Commendations from the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy will also be presented to individuals and organizations that have rendered distinguished service to the photonics convergence industry.
This exhibition will be attended by associations, organizations, and research institutes representing the photonics convergence industry—including the Korea Association for Photonics Industry Development, the Korea Lighting Industry Cooperative, the Korea Smart Cooperative, the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute, the Korea Photonics Technology Institute, and the Cheorwon Plasma Research Institute—making it a comprehensive event that brings together industry, academia, and research. It is expected to serve as a venue for communication where visitors can encounter the latest technologies of Korean companies, the R&D plans of Korean research institutes, and the corporate support plans of industry associations.
