According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (Minister Kim Hyun-mee), the number of apartment units nationwide scheduled for occupancy from June to August 2019 (a three-month period) was tallied at 112,359 units (including union-supplied volume), an 18.2% increase compared with the five-year average (95,000 units) and a slight 3.9% decrease compared with the same period last year (117,000 units).

By region, the survey found that 66,627 units will be occupied in the Seoul metropolitan area (up 52.3% from the five-year average and up 16.3% from the same period last year), and 45,732 units in provincial areas (down 10.8% from the five-year average and down 23.3% from the same period last year).

Looking at the detailed occupancy volume, in the Seoul metropolitan area the following are scheduled for occupancy: ▲27,132 units in June 2019, including Ansan Danwon (4,030 units) and Pyeongtaek Sosa 2 (3,240 units); ▲18,431 units in July 2019, including Goyang Hyangdong (2,947 units) and Osan Oesammi (2,400 units); and ▲21,064 units in August 2019, including Pyeongtaek Sinchon (2,803 units) and Gwangju Taejeon (1,768 units). In provincial areas, the survey found the following scheduled for occupancy: ▲18,046 units in June 2019, including Changwon Jungdong (2,867 units) and Sejong City (2,456 units); ▲16,788 units in July 2019, including Cheongju Heungdeok (2,529 units) and Chuncheon Hupyeong (1,745 units); and ▲10,898 units in August 2019, including Suncheon Sindae (1,464 units) and Busan Dongnae (1,384 units).

By housing size, there were 39,671 units of 60㎡ or less, 64,874 units of 60–85㎡, and 7,814 units exceeding 85㎡. Small- and medium-sized homes of 85㎡ or less accounted for 93.0% of the total, indicating that the occupancy volume was concentrated in small- and medium-sized housing. By supplier, the survey found 91,501 units from the private sector and 20,858 units from the public sector.

Meanwhile, as of the end of March, unsold homes nationwide totaled 62,147 units, a 4.2% (2,533-unit) increase from the previous month (59,614 units). Unsold homes remaining after completion totaled 18,338 units as of the end of March, a 0.8% (154-unit) decrease from the previous month (18,492 units).

Looking at total unsold volume by region, unsold homes in the Seoul metropolitan area numbered 10,529 units, up 36.3% (2,802 units) from the previous month (7,727 units), while provincial areas had 51,618 units, down 0.5% (269 units) from the previous month (51,887 units).

Looking at total unsold volume by size, large- and medium-sized unsold homes exceeding 85㎡ were tallied at 6,009 units, up 5.8% (329 units) from the previous month (5,680 units), while those of 85㎡ or less came to 56,138 units, up 4.1% (2,204 units) from the previous month (53,934 units).
