Signify Korea installs Philips UV-C disinfection unit
Sterilizes various bacteria and viruses by up to 99.99%
Signify Korea (formerly Philips Lighting Korea), a leader in the domestic lighting industry, has installed a ceiling-mounted Philips UV-C disinfection unit at CGV Hongdae, operating a "Safe Sterilization Zone."
Well known for Philips lighting, Signify draws on more than 35 years of ultraviolet technology to bring to market a wide range of products with outstanding technology and high sterilization power—not only UV-C germicidal lamps, but everything from home disinfection units to commercial disinfection units.
Philips UV-C disinfection units are currently used in high-traffic facilities such as hospitals, sports stadiums, restaurants, and supermarkets in countries around the world, drawing attention for their effectiveness and excellence. In Korea as well, they are being installed not only in commercial facilities such as The Coffee Bean, but also in general hospitals and medical centers including Yongin Severance Hospital, Ewha Womans University Seoul Hospital, and Hongseong Medical Center, accelerating efforts to create spaces that citizens can use with peace of mind.
The ceiling-mounted Philips UV-C disinfection unit installed at CGV Hongdae has been shown to sterilize various bacteria and viruses, including the COVID-19 virus, by up to 99.99%, and it applies special UV-C design technology to continuously disinfect indoor air. Through natural air circulation, indoor air particles are exposed to UV-C rays, enabling effective sterilization.
Along with installing the Philips UV-C disinfection unit and operating the Safe Sterilization Zone at CGV Hongdae, Signify Korea is also holding a quiz event. Participants scan the QR code on a banner installed in the Safe Sterilization Zone to go to the event page, then enter the correct quiz answer to complete their entry. Through a random drawing among participants, generous prizes will be awarded, including a Philips UV-C home air disinfection unit, a Philips UV-C home disinfection unit, a Philips UV-C mini disinfection unit, AirPods Pro, and movie tickets. The event runs through June 16.
