‘2022/23 ESG Report’ discloses activity results and future goals
Establishment of an ESG Committee, development of a 2030 carbon emissions reduction roadmap, and more
KCC Glass (CEO Kim Nae-hwan) has published its ‘2022/23 ESG Report,’ transparently disclosing its ESG activity results over the past year as well as its future goals.
This year’s report, the third to be published by KCC Glass, provides a detailed account of the company’s ESG activity results by area—including △the establishment of an ESG Committee, △the development of a 2030 carbon emissions reduction roadmap, and △the calculation of Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions—that KCC Glass has been pursuing since last year, along with its action goals going forward.
First, through the report, KCC Glass introduced the ESG Committee established under its board of directors early this year. Building on the newly established ESG Committee, KCC Glass plans to advance its ESG-related decision-making system and to focus on further concretizing greenhouse gas emissions reductions and the development of a sustainable supply chain management system going forward.
In addition, KCC Glass unveiled its newly established 2030 carbon emissions roadmap in the report. In accordance with the roadmap, the company plans to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 20% in 2030 compared to 2019. Furthermore, the report includes the company’s Scope 3 emissions, which measure indirect greenhouse gas emissions across the entire corporate value chain, from product production to the consumption stage.
In addition, this report includes, for the first time, the results and plans of fair trade and win-win cooperation support activities, while the sections on supply chain ESG management—an area of growing importance in recent years—and on industrial safety and health were significantly expanded and presented in greater detail.
In his greeting in the report, KCC Glass CEO Kim Nae-hwan stated, “KCC Glass sees the growing importance of ESG management as an opportunity for a new leap forward,” adding, “We will define our stakeholders more broadly and pursue integrated ESG management to lay the foundation for sustainable growth.”
To enhance the reliability of the information it contains, this report was prepared in accordance with the GRI Standards, an international guideline for ESG information disclosure. In order to reflect the opinions of external experts, the company also held a discussion session attended by experts in various fields such as the environment, safety, and human rights, and incorporated its contents into the report.
A KCC Glass official said, “Through the ESG report, awareness of and participation in ESG management have significantly increased company-wide,” adding, “Using this third publication as a springboard, we plan to promote the internalization of ESG across the entire supply chain—through strengthened supply chain risk management and win-win cooperation support activities, among others—so that we can build a sustainable future together with our partner companies.”
Meanwhile, KCC Glass is actively pursuing ESG management, including joining the ‘UN Global Compact (UNGC)’ to take part in the UN Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). Through these efforts, the company earned an AA rating from the ESG evaluation agency Sustinvest last year, gaining recognition for its ESG management performance.
