KCC is expanding the scope of its social contribution activities into culture and the arts, teaming up with world-renowned painter Hong Il-hwa for an ‘Art Collaboration.’

As part of its social contribution efforts, KCC invited artist Hong Il-hwa—who is active in France and elsewhere in Europe—to paint a mural based on flowers and nature on a large wall of the zoo at Seoul Grand Park in Gwacheon over four days beginning April 28. Co-hosted with the Korea Future Environment Association, the event was designed to spark children’s childlike imagination through the mural and to raise awareness of environmental and animal protection.

KCC threw its full support behind Hong’s work by supplying its eco-friendly paint ‘Soopuro Well-being SE’ (for exterior use) and related materials for the mural. In addition, employees from KCC’s in-house volunteer club ‘KCC Happiness Sharing’ and staff from the Korea Future Environment Association took part alongside the artist in painting the mural.

After four days of work, an eye-catching mural—marked by Hong Il-hwa’s stylish artistic touch and vibrant colors—was completed on the wall next to the zoo’s flamingo enclosure. Set against a backdrop of flowers and nature, the mural features Korea’s native animals, including tigers, leopards, raccoon dogs, otters, owls, and Asiatic black bears. The array of flowers and animals, rendered with distinctive colors and expressive brushwork, blends beautifully with the surrounding scenery to create a vivid sense of life. Seoul Grand Park expects the mural to become a new attraction at the zoo, which draws many visitors.

Hong Il-hwa is a Western-style painter active in France and across Europe, known as an artist who explores the theme of women. Her signature ‘Persona’ series expresses the psychology of modern women who, through the masks of makeup and cosmetic surgery, seek to possess an artificial face that conceals their true selves.

A KCC official emphasized, “This initiative is the most distinctive and meaningful of the various social contribution activities KCC has carried out together with the Korea Future Environment Association,” adding, “Through KCC’s diverse products, we have run activities such as the Cool Roof campaign and urban environment improvement, and this will now serve as a starting signal for expanding the reach of our social contribution work into culture and the arts.”

Meanwhile, KCC is carrying out social contribution activities by donating a range of building materials centered on paint, and it has in particular worked together with the Korea Future Environment Association on social contribution efforts to protect and preserve the environment. Its wide-ranging activities include the Cool Roof campaign, which reduces heat loss inside buildings through functional paints, and improving living environments by donating eco-friendly flooring, eco-friendly paint, and more to areas with poor housing conditions.
