Main design theme 'Neo Ecosphere' selected
'CMF' and 'Interior' color proposals, with customers invited and visited
KCC (CEO Chung Mong-jin), a global applied materials and chemistry company, is holding its '2023 Design Trend-Pulse Seminar,' which forecasts shifts in the design paradigm and shares solutions, through April 13.
Now in its 15th year, the seminar analyzes consumer lifestyles and needs, as well as industry and market trends, to introduce 'CMF (Color, Material, Finishing)' and 'Interior' design trends, offering fresh insights and customized consulting.
The Trend-Pulse Seminar is conducted either by inviting major customers and stakeholders to the KCC Design Center or by having the KCC Design Team visit customers directly. Last year, some 1,100 people took part online and offline, and this year it is being held in person through April 13 via advance registration.
KCC has selected 'Neo Ecosphere' as its main design theme. As life direction becomes an important value for achieving sustainable development and securing future competitiveness in an era of uncertainty, KCC seeks to explore the movements of individuals and society toward a 'New Ecosphere'—one better than the present—in the spirit of paying attention to it and reflecting on it together. 'Bluemoon Whiskey,' proposed as this year's color, is a dark blue that represents ethical luxury for a better future, symbolizing the infinite possibilities of a future not yet encountered and the valuable depth of nature.
Focusing on multi-sensory design created through the fusion of sustainable materials and technology, the CMF part sets its themes as ▲Greenery Touch ▲Invisibility Luxury ▲Humorous Tonic, proposing color designs based on trends unfolding across everyday life, including technology, society, the economy, and culture.
Focusing on the value of 'scarcity' in the spaces we choose within limited time and space, the Interior part sets its themes as ▲Ironic Abreast ▲Dare Intrusion ▲Frugal Cool, unveiling color designs that reflect market trends and consumer psychology.
The themes and colors proposed at the seminar were researched and developed based on the database and know-how accumulated by the KCC Color Design Center, and are leading to mass production through per-customer proposals and product development collaboration. By proposing sub-colors that enable a variety of color combinations for each market based on the main color, organized by theme, they are being actively applied in the fields of CMF (automotive/home appliances), interiors, and exteriors.
A KCC official said, "The Trend-Pulse Seminar is recognized as providing useful information and customized solutions across various industries while offering real help in raising the value of products and brands," adding, "KCC will further expand its projects to continuously communicate and collaborate with customers in order to realize designs that resonate with the public."
