Signs Partnership Agreement with Seocho-gu
for Housing Support for the Socially Vulnerable
KCC (CEO Chung Mong-jin) signed a 'Firefly House' partnership agreement with Seocho-gu and local welfare organizations on March 9, continuing its residential environment improvement project for socially vulnerable groups for the sixth consecutive year.
The signing ceremony, held at Seocho-gu Office, was attended by 15 people, including KCC Executive Director Kim Sang-jun, Seocho-gu Mayor Jeon Seong-su, and officials from four welfare organizations, who discussed the project's direction for 2023, operational plans, and public-private cooperation measures.
The 'Firefly House' project supports the realization of spatial welfare through home repairs and renovations for households in urgent need of improved living environments. Like a firefly rising into the night sky, the project carries the meaning of reaching out to communities in need and transforming their lives to be bright and cheerful. KCC has carried out the project since 2018, supporting a total of 176 households.
For this project, KCC is providing building materials worth approximately 100 million won along with specialized personnel, as well as one-on-one consultations and customized construction services. In particular, KCC plans to enhance living environments and further improve quality of life by using its eco-friendly paints to create pleasant and safe spaces and by maximizing heating and cooling energy efficiency with high-performance windows and doors.
In addition, at year-end, project participants will become 'Firefly Santa Clauses,' visiting the households whose homes were repaired over the course of the year to check on the improvements, deliver gifts, and offer companionship—faithfully fulfilling their role as members of the community to help build a sustainable community.
Eligible applicants are households in need of social consideration with income at or below 120% of the standard median income, including basic livelihood security recipients, seniors living alone, single-parent families, and people with disabilities. Applications can be submitted from April 3 to May 31 through the relevant dong (neighborhood) community service center or partner organizations.
Recipient households will be selected by comprehensively considering the applicant's reason for support, urgency, and whether they are receiving duplicate assistance, after which home repairs will proceed.
