KCC Glass takes No. 1 in three categories; PVC flooring wins for the 11th consecutive year, and decoration film earns a first-time award

KCC and KCC Glass were selected as No. 1 in eight building-materials categories at the ‘2020 Korea Standard-Quality Excellence Index (KS-QEI)’ awards ceremony held on October 23 at the Lotte Hotel in Sogong-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul. KCC took top honors in five categories—sealants, water-based paints, oil-based paints, ceiling materials, and glass wool—while KCC Glass ranked first in three categories: PVC flooring, low-emissivity glass (coated glass), and decoration film.

Organized by the Korean Standards Association (KSA) and sponsored by the Korean Agency for Technology and Standards under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korean Society for Quality Management, the Korea Standard-Quality Excellence Index (KS-QEI) is a comprehensive indicator that surveys and publishes the quality excellence and satisfaction levels of a company’s products among people who have purchased or used them as well as product experts. Because the measurement model, jointly developed by the Korean Standards Association and the Korean Society for Quality Management, reflects not only consumer opinions but also expert evaluations of the products concerned, the index is regarded as highly reliable.

KCC and KCC Glass earned strong marks from both consumers and experts across quality dimensions such as usage quality and emotional quality. Usage quality evaluates a total of six items—product performance, reliability, durability, usability, safety, and accessibility—while emotional quality refers to scores across three items, including product image, customers’ awareness of the product, and novelty (how fresh and appealing it is).

By securing the top ranking for multiple consecutive years in the KS-QEI, KCC once again demonstrated its outstanding products and corporate capabilities as a company leading Korea’s building-materials and paint industries. Among the categories won this year, sealants marked nine consecutive years at No. 1, water-based and oil-based paints six consecutive years, ceiling materials four consecutive years, and glass wool two consecutive years.

In particular, ‘KCC Koresil,’ KCC’s architectural sealant brand that has held the No. 1 spot for nine straight years, earned high marks as a product that can be trusted, thanks to its high-performance lineup designed with consumer safety and health in mind. It was the first sealant product in Korea to receive the Ministry of Environment’s official ‘Eco-Label (Environmental Labeling Certification),’ and the company continues to expand its lineup of eco-certified products. In addition, out of concern for consumer harm caused by sealant products on the market that fail to meet KS standards or contain inconsistent volumes, KCC continuously runs its ‘genuine product, accurate volume’ sealant campaign.

KCC Glass, too, continues to build its reputation as a comprehensive glass and interior company leading an advanced architectural culture. KCC Glass was selected as No. 1 for the 11th consecutive year in PVC flooring and the fourth consecutive year in low-emissivity glass. In the decoration film category, ‘KCC Glass Vicenti’ was named a top-ranked product for the first time this year—the first-ever such award for KCC Glass in the decoration film industry.

‘KCC Glass Soop,’ KCC Glass’s flooring brand, was recognized as the best flooring product that truly satisfies consumers, having won the residential flooring category of the ‘2020 Korea Brand Power Index (K-BPI),’ organized by the Korea Management Association Consulting (KMAC), for five consecutive years this past April, followed by its 11th consecutive No. 1 ranking in this KS-QEI.

KCC Glass Soop is an eco-friendly residential flooring product from KCC Glass that combines outstanding quality with consideration for customers’ health. It was the first in Korea to add hinoki cypress oil to flooring, earning the industry’s first ‘Atopy Safe’ mark. Its Non-Slip function provides an excellent walking feel and delivers strong antibacterial and deodorizing effects. More resistant to moisture than hardwood flooring, it does not suffer damage or deformation even when water is spilled and can be wiped down with a wet cloth, making it well suited to Korean-style living environments. It is loved by consumers for its diverse product lineup, including the premium flooring products ‘Soop Soriseun’ and ‘Soop Sorihyu,’ which reduce inter-floor noise thanks to their substantial thickness, as well as ‘Soop Dodam,’ which absorbs joint impact for young children and pets.

Meanwhile, ‘Vicenti,’ the decoration film newly named a No. 1 product this time, is a finishing material designed to let people decorate their own spaces easily and enjoyably in response to the recent rise in interior and remodeling demand, and it is drawing market attention with its outstanding quality and wide range of colors and patterns. With its diverse designs, users can transform the areas they wish to change according to their tastes, and its advantage is the ability to remodel worn surfaces smoothly, as if new. In particular, it is loved by many consumers for its convenience: with adhesive already applied to the back, anyone can install it right away on site. To further expand its points of contact with consumers, KCC Glass is recruiting Vicenti dealers in regions across the country. Detailed information such as dealership requirements and required documents can be found on the KCC Glass website (https://www.kccglass.co.kr/).

A KCC official said, “Winning first place in the KS-QEI is highly meaningful in that our product quality has been recognized not only by experts in each field but also by consumers who purchased the products themselves. In particular, we are very pleased to have reaffirmed our leading position in the building-materials industry by taking the No. 1 spot for multiple consecutive years across KCC’s five categories and KCC Glass’s three categories,” adding, “Going forward, we plan to satisfy consumers through continuous technology development and service improvement and to further strengthen our quality competitiveness.”

The name ‘Soop Dodam’ is taken from the Korean word ‘dodam-dodam,’ which describes a young child growing up healthy and playing well without trouble. It carries the meaning of a safe flooring product that children and pet families alike can use with peace of mind, thanks to its slip-resistant function, excellent walking feel, and safety from harmful substances. It holds various eco-friendly product certifications, including the Eco-Label, HB mark, and Atopy Safe mark. In particular, ‘Soop Dodam’ is the first in the PVC flooring industry to obtain the ‘Pet Product Safety Certification (PS Certification).’ It comes in two thicknesses—2.7 mm and 3.2 mm—and, reflecting consumer preferences and the latest trends, offers a total of 18 design patterns: 7 for the 2.7 mm version and 11 for the 3.2 mm version.
